Wednesday night the game we decided to evaluate featured 3 of the top 10 sophomores in the state of Illinois as Neuqua Valley traveled to Yorkville. It was close through the first quarter then Neuqua Valley hit the gas to push it to a 45-24 lead at the half. Yorkville cut into the lead with a run in the early fourth quarter, but Neuqua Valley managed to answer winning by a final of 79-60. Check out our thoughts here!

Elite 2028 Kelly Showcases Full Game

The top forward in the state's 2028 class Neuqua Valley's [player_tooltip player_id='2531981' first='Cole' last='Kelly'] put on a show against Yorkville. He came out firing right from the beginning with his sweet lefty shot. Banged in a pair of threes from the top of the key and it was on! Those were actually his only two triples in the game, but he still showcased that pure shot with pull ups in the mid-range and turnaround jumpers. Posted up a few times for scores. Showed he could win off the bounce being defended by Porter as he gave his best effort, but a few times Kelly blew past him for scores. Like how he often gets the ball on a curl getting a head of steam and some separation going to the rack. Very smart player that knows how to use the little advantages to make things happen. Threw down a couple huge dunks in the open floor in 4th quarter. His passing game was definitely on display in this game. Give and go dishes, finding shooters, shovel dishes, and pushing ahead off the defensive glass. Rebounded at a very high rate in this game along with competing on the defensive end as a good positional defender that made it tough for his opponent to get past him. We had him for 31 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 dimes. Big time high-major player.

Martin Continues to Light Up Nets as Rising 2027 Name

Junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='2839878' first='Mason' last='Martin'] has been excellent early in the season for Neuqua Valley. He continued that in this one. After a bit of a quiet first quarter he ignited them in the second stanza with his three point shooting as he would pour in six in the game. Did it off the catch, shot fakes into side steps, and pulling up from well beyond the arc. Love how he moves without the ball to get open and has a quick release. Mixed in some layups and a nice give and go finish from Kelly finishing with 25 points. Lot of helium as we head into middle of December.

Yorkville Top 10 2028 Duo Show Glimpses of Bright Future

[player_tooltip player_id='2194655' first='Braydon' last='Porter'] didn't back down in this one. He competed on the defensive end and while Kelly got the best of him a few times he is going to do that to pretty much everyone. Offensively he showcased the long ball draining three of them from distance. The strong and athletic small forward got loose in transition where he is a high level finisher. Liked what we saw out of him as a passer in this game. Think he can be a good connective passer and secondary playmaker if he keeps the progression up. Went for 13 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2532003' first='Joey' last='Jakstys'] is also a solid passer from his wing spot. The athleticism played well running the floor, cutting off the ball, and getting in passing lanes with his long arms. Got on the glass and did drain a spot up three en route to 11 points. Senior point guard Alonn Flint had a solid game as he hit multiple threes and attacked on straight line takes for 13 points.
