Lake Zurich Blows Out Westinghouse in Morning Game

First game we saw was Lake Zurich's 80-56 win against Westinghouse. [player_tooltip player_id='1522682' first='Kain' last='Kretschmar'] led the way for Lake Zurich as he notched 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 dimes in the victory. Strong bodied wing that is crafty around the basket and makes winning plays. [player_tooltip player_id='2432328' first='Adrian' last='Riep'] is another solid small college senior for this squad. Spot up shooter who mixes it up around the hoop. He had 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Both only played the first three quarters. [player_tooltip player_id='2831792' first='Brian' last='Bennett'] ended up being their leading scorer with 15 points.

Westinghouse got a big game from their senior backcourt of [player_tooltip player_id='2371301' first='Jemari' last='Jackson'] with 29 points, 7 rebounds, as well as 5 steals and Jacob Brown who had 10. Both are smaller guards that like to attack off the bounce with speed. Jackson is definitely a prospect that can play at the small college level with his quickness off the bounce and creative finishing in the paint. [player_tooltip player_id='2402634' first='Xavier' last='Johnson'] is an intriguing 6'4” small forward with a thick body and solid skill set including a sweet pull up game as he had 11 points.

Conant Survives Wheaton St. Francis Comeback Attempt in Defensive Battle

This was a low scoring contest as Conant led almost the entire game, but Wheaton St. Francis tied it up in the fourth quarter. Conant had just enough to edge past them 39-35. Bryce Harris was the standout for Conant as the senior sharp shooter went 4-5 from beyond the arc for 14 points in the win. Gabe Kipta is a scrappy wing that hit a three along with an and-1 for 7 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Joey Biedke is one to keep an eye on. He only scored 3 points, but we liked his crisp passing and activity defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2382444' first='Tanner' last='Hozian'] led the way for St. Francis. The 2026 6'3” shooting guard was assertive pressing the issue off the bounce for sweeping and spinning layups along with a nice floater game as he had 17 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2423510' first='Carter' last='Clark'] caught our attention as a senior 6'6” center that rebounded well in his area and scored when opportunities presented themselves. He had 7 points and 11 rebounds.

Glenbrook South's Frontline Too Much for Hinsdale South

Next up Glenbrook South blasted Hinsdale South by a final of 59-32. The size up front was just too much for Hinsdale South to handle. In the first half they got some juice from undersized junk yard dog post Alex Kaled as the sophomore was physical on the glass throwing his strength around along with being tough scoring in the paint for 8 points. In the second half their top prospect 2027 post [player_tooltip player_id='2125637' first='Jacob' last='Fuller'] started to lock in. He is a floor spacer who drained three of them in the second half. Sometimes he can focus too much on just shooting so we liked seeing a shot fake for a short baseline J, rebounded well defensively clearing the glass in the third quarter at good rate, and was active defensively using his length laterally getting deflections. Went for 15 points. Class of 2028 center [player_tooltip player_id='2438695' first='Hunter' last='Thiel'] opened our eyes in this game. At 6'7” he has good size and a nice frame. Rebounds well in his area with several put backs, showed skill around the hoop, and is a sound passer. Notched 11 points in the win. Senior 6'3” forward Bilal Rama is a long and lanky four that contests shots with his long arms, runs the floor, and drained a corner three for 7 points.

Hinsdale South's bright spot was 2026 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2397705' first='Noah' last='Therapos']. The smaller guard brings toughness and shot making to the table as he had 10 points.

2027s Lubbe and Dinnon Shine as Host York Tops Andrew

It was a well balance York team along with a monster performance from junior [player_tooltip player_id='2839900' first='Joseph' last='Lubbe'] who got them a 60-47 win against Andrew. What a show from Lubbe as the 6'3” junior shooting guard was lights out from the perimeter knocking in 4-6 from beyond the arc and 10-13 overall for 26 points and 5 rebounds. Definitely a name you are going to be hearing more about going forward! [player_tooltip player_id='2829810' first='Miles' last='Burnison'] is a small forward that was efficient with his touches attacking from the mid-post and being active on the glass for 9 points. Inside wide bodied big man [player_tooltip player_id='1552443' first='Costa' last='Kampas'] played physical carving out space and scoring with power along with nimble footwork for 8 points and 8 rebounds. The heart and soul of this team is their gritty glue guy Jackson Rennick who was only credited with 5 rebounds, but seemed to be everywhere! Intrigued with 2028 point guard Will O'Leary with his passing and instincts at the lead guard spot as he netted 4 points and 4 assists.

Andrew 2027 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2839876' first='Ryan' last='Dinnon'] was awesome for the Thunderbolts. He is a 6'7” combo forward that has grown and gotten stronger since we last saw him. Lights out shooting performance draining six triples in the loss. Such a free and easy release with soft touch going through the net. Can also finish out of the dunker spot and mixed it up defensively finishing with 25 points. Their other standout was fellow junior [player_tooltip player_id='2125664' first='Malik' last='Mahmoud'] as the 5'11” guard went 4-9 from deep en route to 15 points.

Perspectives Running Clocks Lyons in Statement Performance

In what seemed to be a very evenly matched contest coming in it was Perspectives who jumped out to a 36-9 lead at the half on Lyons and kept it up winning with a running clock in the 4th quarter 63-38. Perspectives is really starting to click with all their transfers beginning to mesh into one. The three headed guard attack was outstanding. Senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1845364' first='Morgan' last='Travis'] had his second strong game in a row as the 2026 guard drained a trio from beyond the arc. He also was dynamic passing off live dribbles and creating steals going for 15 points. Fellow senior Aidan Horton played his part knocking down spot up threes and using his athleticism attacking for 13 points. Class of 2027 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1874813' first='Jayden' last='Taylor'] played the best we have seen him in his career. Strong and athletic lead guard was so slick off the dribble. He won off the bounce with burst and tight handles converting euro steps and floaters in the lane. Finishes well through contact and can hit the long ball as he had 23 points. More than just a scorer as he set others up on the move all night long with his passing. Up front [player_tooltip player_id='2439310' first='[player_tooltip player_id='2375418' first='Tristan' last='']' last='Howard'] had a strong game. The broad shouldered five man plays with athleticism and intensity. Slams out of dunker spot, snatches rebounds, and gets after it defensively. Finished with 9 points.

For Lyons they got some shot making from 2027 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2415542' first='Nathan' last='Woods'] who hit threes and pullups for 10 points. Sophomore star [player_tooltip player_id='2538631' first='Grant' last='Smith'] was not super impactful until the 4th quarter where he got it going with a couple threes and a post up for 12 points.

Carpenter and Redento Make Key Plays in Glenbard North Win over Lemont

In one of the most competitive sweet 16 games it looked like Glenbard North was going to run away multiple times including going into the half. Lemont answered with an 8-0 run. GBN again stretched it to near double figures late, but Lemont got steals and scores to make it a one possession game. With the shot clock ticking down up three [player_tooltip player_id='2125660' first='Lamari' last='Carpenter'] stayed under control slashing to the hoop and hit his running mate [player_tooltip player_id='2455373' first='Oturo' last='Redento'] on a cut to seal the win 55-50. Carpenter was on fire to start the game as he drained three triples in the first couple of minutes from the top of the key off the catch and on a step back. Got a couple more buckets in transition and off defense, but from that point on he focused on his defense and moving the ball as he netted 15 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. The versatility of Glenbard North wing [player_tooltip player_id='2455373' first='Oturo' last='Redento'] jumps off the floor every time we see him play. Long and lanky frame that is starting to fill out. Plus athlete that can handle it, knock in jumpers, finish at the rim with body control, rebound at a high rate, and defend as well as anyone in this field when locked in. The 2027 prospect continues to see his stock go up! He had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Do it all wing [player_tooltip player_id='2404186' first='Matt' last='Welch'] scored just 8 points, but they were big buckets on a deep three, post up, and his impact was more than just scoring. Gritty on the glass and was very good as a passer. Completely changed the game with both as he had 16 rebounds and 3 assists. [player_tooltip player_id='2839935' first='George' last='Schager'] put his name on our radar in this game as the 6'2” 2028 shooting guard shot it well from three along with being able to attack a close out going for 11 points.

Lemont got a big game from Ryan Crane. The 6'5” small forward continues to have a breakout season as he was money from beyond the arc with several momentum shifting threes draining five of them in total for 17 points. It took him a bit to get going, but their star [player_tooltip player_id='2749990' first='Zane' last='Schneider'] found his groove in the fourth with a super deep three and cutting a pass for a layup on the other end finishing with 8 points. Focused mostly on being a set up man in this game as he had 7 dimes and 8 rebounds.

Costanzo Paces St. Patrick to Remain Undefeated

In their sweet 16 matchup against Rolling Meadows it was all about [player_tooltip player_id='1939226' first='Joseph' last='Costanzo'] for St. Patrick as the senior point guard was the man in their 49-46 win. The 2026 guard is a quick guard that moves well off the ball to relocate and get open for threes. He did that in bunches in this game draining them one after another along with mixing in some drives for 21 points. The size up front of [player_tooltip player_id='2823605' first='RJ' last='McPartlin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2437108' first='Omar' last='Ajanovic'] brought the Shamrocks an interior presence defensively and on the glass. Ajanovic flashed offensively stepping out knocking in a jumper along with a nice baseline take.

Rolling Meadows had a pretty balanced effort in this game. Marty Lesner had his moments getting in the paint for scores, fouls, seals, and put backs. He had 16 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1552466' first='Andrew' last='Krestel'] can shoot it from distance. [player_tooltip player_id='2481882' first='Tyler' last='Stankiewicz'] is a solid all-around floor general that can score and dish.
