First Financial Wabash Valley Classic - 1st Round Top Performers

Nothing signals the day after Christmas quite like the annual Wabash Valley Classic. This year the event sponsored by First Financial will take place at Terre Haute South High School. We generally cover this tournament remotely but are excited to have boots on the ground coverage from Friday's opening round of games this season. Prep Hoops Indiana will be running a live blog from the opening tip to the final buzzer of today's eight games. Additionally, now that the event is over, we will highlight some of the top individual performers from Friday's eight first round games.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    One of the highest ranked unsigned senior forwards in Indiana's Class of 2026, Bock played in front of a couple of college coaches on Friday night at the First Financial Wabash Valley Classic. The super athletic 6'6" forward scored 21 points including a ferocious dunk to seal the game late. He is so impressive around the basket and projects as a big time two-way interior threat at the small college level.     In arguably the most impressive individual performance of the day, Crum posted a double-double of 32 points and 10 rebounds in Parke Heritage's 73-52 in over Greencastle. The 6'3" junior forward is so good around the basket.     An unsigned senior guard for Class 2A Top 10 Linton, Daily led all scorers with 20 points, but the Miners fell to Edgewood 50-49. His ability to create his own shot off of the bounce from all levels on the floor is a trait that really stands out. Daily can shoot it from deep, but also has the strength to play through contact and get to the rim.     Gardner, a University of Saint Francis signee, poured in 29 points to help Martinsville edge out Shakamak in overtime 73-72. The 6'2" senior guard scored 12 of his game-high 29 points between the fourth quarter and overtime.     Goff, a Marian University signee, turned in one of the most impressive passing and overall playmaking performances we've seen this season in Northview's win over Terre Haute South. He dished out six assists in the first quarter alone and went on to finish with 9 points and 10 assists for the Knights.     Terre Haute North used a wild 25-0 run to pull away from Cloverdale after trailing 18-11 late in the first quarter. Hammond, one of the most athletically and physically gifted wings in Indiana's Class of 2027, was a big part of that run. He went on to finish with 22 points to lead all scorers in the Patriots 75-52 victory.     A highly versatile forward, Husband was a huge part of sending Shakamak's game against Martinsville into overtime. The 6'4" junior finished with 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals, but the Lakers came up just short falling to Martinsville in overtime 73-72.     Kiteka is proving why we at Prep Hoops Indiana have him ranked so highly in the Class of 2028. He is a totally different player from even just this summer. The 6'9" sophomore center moves so much better and has added an impressive turnaround jump shot in the post that is simply unguardable. Kiteka finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots in Cloverdale's 75-52 loss to Terre Haute North.     This marked the second time this week that we have seen Lewis play at a very high level. The 6'4" sophomore hybrid wing/forward is as good of a cutter as you'll find in his class. He excels in transition, slashing to the basket, offensive rebounding, and driving it hard to his right. Lewis led Northview with 27 points and 7 rebounds in a 64-47 win over Terre Haute South.     McGuire poured in 17 points for Marshall in the first half alone including three three-point shots to keep the game competitive. Sullivan ended up pulling away for a 74-56 win, but this 6'1" unsigned senior guard finished with 22 points in a very impressive performance.     Casey-Westfield (IL) came in with an 8-1 record and was intent on taking Neill away offensively. However, the 6'6" unsigned senior guard showed why he is one of the top scorers in the state of Indiana. Despite facing relentless pressure and constant double-teams Neill scored 20 points to lead Bloomfield to a 48-43 victory.     Look for Ridgway to be a stock-riser coming up in our Class of 2027 prospect rankings. The 6'6" left-handed forward is very skilled both away from the basket and around the rim. He hit four three-point shots on his way to a game-high 25 points while also pulling down 6 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists as Sullivan defeated Marshall (IL) 74-56.     Woelfle is no stranger to production. Whether it is in previous seasons on very good Terre Haute North teams or on the AAU circuit with the Indiana Jammers Woelfle is always finding a way to contribute to winning. However, Friday was still as good as we have seen the unsigned senior guard play. He finished with 20 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals to help lead the Patriots to a 75-52 victory over Cloverdale. Look for his small college recruitment to continue to pick up throughout the winter.
