Ean came out with another strong performance at the 1 for the Crusaders in their win Saturday. His game-management and pace is something I've watched grow rapidly in a short period of time. The growth in his game is coming at the perfect time as his recruitment window will close soon after this senior season. Ean's on-ball defense this game was tremendous, showing everyone in the gym why the 5'10" point guard came away with DPOY honors last season. His pace offensively seemed to be at a different level then his peers most times through the game. Was able to calmly drive the ball through the defense and make short floaters or controlled finishes at the rim around defenders. Knocked down a couple 3's as the usual part of his performance. Very impressed with the rhythm Ean plays with each time out, this weekend being another prime example in a home win.

Marlon is another guard who came out with a different kind of pace to the game than his teammates and the opposition. Showed much more maturity in his decision making, attacking spots in the zone and showing control through the trap defense KIPP faced on Saturday. Marlon had a few plays where he waited patiently for the defense to show a weak spot, and found the gap to attack rather than forcing difficult drives to the rim where defenders are looming. Got to the basket when needed, found his teammates on the break and in the halfcourt running through defensive reads. Marlon made an impact defensively as well off-the-ball, reading plays before they happened to come out with breakaway steals. Showed some nice effectiveness outside of the high-level scoring ability we are accustomed to.

Dez may have had the most impactful performance of the day. For the size-lacking Crusader team, Dez had to step up in a forward/wing role and blossomed. Finished with a 20p-10r double-double and looked dominant through the game. Had a number of possessions owning the glass, rebounding over multiple players and muscling shots back up through contact. Still remained very effecting on the wing, spotting up for a couple of huge three-point field goals and drawing fouls with his sheer strength on the inside. A rugged two-way performance from the guard, showing a grittiness and versatile ability to play any position on the floor if asked. Truly inspiring performance from the senior VA transfer Dez Ainsworth. Never disappoints when asked to produce for his team, no matter on or off the ball.

Aaron dominated the floor from start to finish in a full game of explosive plays and highlight finishes. Started on the defensive end picking up steal after steal. Read the passing lanes to perfection and timed up his traps well enough to rip away the rock consistently, causing havoc in the backcourt all game. Aaron never let up offensively after all his all-out efforts on defense. Drilled a number of jumpshots from inside and out beyond, forcing the defense to respect his shot early. His prowess getting to the basket is something to seriously keep an eye on. His sneaky raw athleticism allowed him to effortlessly make play after play, often finishing breaks with a mean two-hand statement dunk. Very strong with the ball and elusive with the handle, can shift his defender in any direction to open up his slashing lane. One of the more impressive performances on the day at the Showcase. Recruiters should start to tap in to this young man's game and huge potential for future stardom.

While his teammates Ja'Zyere and Aaron had huge games, Chase was also a large help to the Mustangs never-dying engine. Never seemed to lose energy or lose track of the moment. Was a trustworthy guard to rely on while the game's intensity was high. Didn't fade under immense pressure and still remained aggressive through the tough defensive pressure/traps. Finished a few layups after beating his man off the dribble and defended the ball hard. Chase was determined to make offense hard for the opposition, which helped open up opportunities on the other side. Really solid game as the team relied on him to help run an efficient offense and a lockdown defense.
