Aaron McGlone
About Aaron
Expert Analysis
William Lloyd III | Prep Hoops Scout
Aaron has been one of the more intriguing guards to track this season because of the athleticism and his growing confidence. He plays fast, pushes the pace after rebounds, and consistently turns defense into quick offense with his tempo and burst. Aaron gets to the rim in a hurry and finishes through contact consistently. He’s also been active on the glass with timely rebounds and putbacks. He’s shown he can make shots from outside too, and the scoring upside has flashed throughout the season with big outings. So far, Aaron’s season has been about growth, production, and momentum, and he looks like a guard who’s still trending up.

Aaron is one of the more cerebral lefty guards on display in the 1st game of the day. He used his explosiveness to punish the rim every chance he got while also displaying a reliable outside jumper. He is comfortable on or off the ball and excels in transition where he can display his incredible explosion. There is so much to like about Aaron moving forward and he should be considered a no brainer scholarship level prospect.

Needle-moving trip for McGlone as he showed of an array of improvements within his game that will have him high on our radar as the season progresses. The 6-foot-2 guard is a threat to score it from all three levels and puts pressure on the defense as he’s constantly in attack mode. Even when he doesn’t have the ball, McGlone is looking to hunt the perfect situation to crash the offensive glass for put-back dunks as he did day one. SMCA would claim its bracket championship and McGlone, along side another guard we will highlight, was the leader averaging 18 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists per game.

Aaron dominated the floor from start to finish in a full game of explosive plays and highlight finishes. Started on the defensive end picking up steal after steal. Read the passing lanes to perfection and timed up his traps well enough to rip away the rock consistently, causing havoc in the backcourt all game. Aaron never let up offensively after all his all-out efforts on defense. Drilled a number of jumpshots from inside and out beyond, forcing the defense to respect his shot early. His prowess getting to the basket is something to seriously keep an eye on. His sneaky raw athleticism allowed him to effortlessly make play after play, often finishing breaks with a mean two-hand statement dunk. Very strong with the ball and elusive with the handle, can shift his defender in any direction to open up his slashing lane. One of the more impressive performances on the day at the Showcase. Recruiters should start to tap in to this young man’s game and huge potential for future stardom.

-McGlone has impressed each of our scouts at a different event in the past month as he fine-tunes his skillset heading into a big junior year. McGlone has made incredible strides as a decision-maker in the open floor that weaves his way through the defense to either rise up for a shot or find a teammate. Love the change of speed with the ball in his hands and how well he attacks angles with or without a ball screen. Excited to see him perform in a bigger role within SMCA’s system this year with the graduation or departure of a few key pieces in their backcourt.

-Liked what I saw from McGlone as a dynamic lead guard that has improved the timing of his passes in transition, holding the ball for that extra beat in transition to force the defense to commit to him before dropping off to a teammate. In a showcase environment that most prospects struggle to maintain good ball movement and on-ball defense– McGlone excelled with both as evidenced by picking his matchup’s pocket at halfcourt before getting two feet in the paint and kicking out to the shooter. The handle has sharpened to allow him to play at a breakneck pace in transition and I like the finishing moves that he’s added to his bag around the basket.

Another under-radar guards that is a college worthy prospect. The left-handed McGlone impresses with his approach toward the game by leading the way being a strong scoring factor but also making his presence felt on the defensive end with his instincts, on ball quickness and quick hands. Look for Aaron to bethe one of the better guards in Maryland in the 2027 class, showing poise, growth, scoring prowess, and control of an offense, as well as being a playmaker, knock down shooter and athletic finisher.

is an athletic guard who shines on both ends of the court. Aaron is a fantastic finisher going to his left, and he has excellent leaping ability that helps throw down some nice dunks for a guy his size. Aaron gets into the jersey of opposing guards, and he does a good job forcing turnovers. He is fast and is a good jump shooter. He had 25 points in Southern Maryland Christian’s close loss to New Hope Academy.
