I spent the weekend in Brooklyn, NY at the Made Hoops' Jordan Holiday Classic. High-level teams from the Northeast and beyond competed in showcase games over 2 games in 2 different gyms in front of college scouts, media members, and NBA personnel. In this article we'll dive into the local DMV W/F prospects that stood out to me over the weekend. Let's dive in!

-Pretty dominant inside-out performance for Condon, who has been on an absolute heater to start the season for the Quakers as they have dealt with some injury issues to key rotation pieces. Love how he has stepped up as a vocal leader for this team at both ends of the floor, but specifically at the defensive end of the floor as a leader on the back line. Condon started things off with an escape dribble to finish with his left underneath the rim, volleyball-spiked a layup attempt at the other end of the floor, hit several C+S threes from the wing, and finished above the rim on runouts in transitions. The improvements to his foot speed and cardio endurance are paying early dividends for the Quakers.

-Barrett continues to impress our scouts as a floor-spacer that picks his spots to knock down open jumpers without dominating the ball. Barrett uses his size to snag rebounds in and around the paint and has expanded his game to hit turn-arounds or touch shots in the key to convert on those O-boards. His ability to get into his shooting form quickly off the bounce or off the catch at 6'8 is extremely valuable to the success of the Lions' offense.

-Mena continues to improve his ability to move without the ball to flash to the rim from the corner to provide a passing target for the slew of slashing guards that PVI has on the floor. His ability to finish in tight gaps around the paint will be huge, and was big in this win over LuHi with 3 backdoor layups at key junctures in the game. Mena hit a huge corner 3 to make it a 2-possession game late after hitting a pick n pop 18-footer in the 3Q. While he has improved at the defensive end of the floor and on the offensive glass, that continued development will be crucial for a PVI team that needs his size and skillset to compete in national games.

-Kelly is coming into his own and learning how to impact the game on the glass and with his defensive versatility. His ability to serve as a passing target with some size to break fullcourt presses with his passing or ballhandling should earn him more opportunities as the season progresses. Love the work he has been doing on the glass, but think that there is another few levels that he can get to before reaching his ceiling as a prospect. As he finishes opportunities in tight gaps off of sometimes-difficult catches to make in traffic, he will earn more opportunities within the Lions' guard-centric offense.

-While the skill level continues to progress, his effort on the glass and defensively in ball screens can lead to him carving out a larger role within the Panthers' system. His blend of mobility, ball skills, and motor raise his upside as a long-term prospect that has his best basketball ahead of him. Want to see him step through double teams and use his pivot around the rim to create easier finishing angles that will keep him on the floor.
