We are less than two weeks away from the first games of the 2025-26 KHSAA basketball season. The excitement level for this year is high. This is the first time in a few years that we haven't had a few teams that are clearly ahead of the pack in the race for the state title. I am going to be previewing all 16 regions by breaking down the top 5 teams and the top 5 college prospects in each region. Being a top 5 college prospect and being a top 5 player in the region are not the same thing. There are a lot of really good high school players in Kentucky who are not necessarily great college prospects.

Josh is a prospect unlike most we've seen in Kentucky over the last decade plus. The term "freak athlete" gets tossed around too liberally but Lindsay is just that. He can run, jump, etc better than 99.9% of the planet. His skill level continues improving too. Josh has several high major offers already and is still only a Sophomore.

Ballard's next star, Grivna has the potential to be a top 25 or so prospect in the 2029 class, nationally. Already an elite shot blocker, Mason's offensive game is good and getting better. Most importantly, the big man plays with a good motor and isn't afraid to mess up. His prospect ceiling is way up there.

Trey is the most improved prospect in the 2028 class in Kentucky over the last year, in my opinion. He's an elite shot blocker whose offensive game continues to improve. As his frame fills out more and more, Hillerich is going to be a serious problem for 7th region foes.

Boogie already holds multiple Power 5 offers and has the potential to be an elite recruit and future pro. When his motor is running, there are not many better prospects in the state than Cook. Long term, Boogie could end up an elite prospect in America or could settle in at the mid major D1 level. It all depends on how hard he plays on a game by game basis.

Mitchell would be the best prospect in about any other region in the state. That's how loaded the seventh region is this season. Jordan is a good playmaker and advanced passer who has the ability to knife through the paint and make good reads and finishes. Certainly a potential break out prospect in Louisville this season.
