This list highlights the most efficient returning players in the state from last season — those who consistently produced at a high level and made the most of their opportunities. Each player proved to be reliable and selective, particularly when scoring inside or taking quality, high-percentage shots. Efficiency matters, and these athletes showed it night in and night out.

To qualify for this list, players had to rank among last season's statistical leaders, attempt at least three shots per game, and appear in a minimum of 13 contests. These are the returning standouts who turned smart shot selection into steady production.

Cortayvion Rapier returns as the state's top field goal efficiency weapon. He finished No. 4 in Kentucky last season at 69.5 percent, overwhelmingly created on high percentage touches inside the paint. His strength, frame and athleticism allow him to finish through contact with two hand power. He only took one three pointer last year, but still averaged nearly four shots per game because he remained aggressive.

[player_tooltip player_id='1745594' first='Maddox' last='Hager'] was top five in field goal percentage a season ago at 68.8 percent. His offense consists of just about everything. Though he is very good inside the paint, he can hurt the opposing team outside the paint as well. He only took four three-pointers last season, but has shown some ability to knock them down. His versatility shows with his size inside, his ability to shoot and his ability to take it to the basket. Hager is a strong overall athlete and excels at a lot of things, which helps his consistency and his efficiency.

Hunter Mattingly came in at No. 7 in the state last season in field goal percentage at 68.2 percent. He took less shots than others with 88 attempts, hitting 60, but that does not take away from how consistent he is. He has good size and strength and is an effective presence inside the paint. He is another player that does not shoot much from behind the arc with just one attempted three, but he draws attention inside and creates efficient shots because of his strength and positioning.

Durrelle Loggins finished out last season's top ten at 67.2 percent. He averaged 6.6 points a game last season and out of all 199 of his points, only six came from three. He averaged nearly three field goals a game and brings a good presence inside. In terms of height he is not as tall as others on this list, which makes his efficiency and ability to be in the states top ten last season even more impressive.

Melvin James was just outside the top ten in the state a year ago at 67.1 percent. Of his 118 total points last season, 110 came from twos and the other eight came from the free throw line. He shot one three and took 82 total field goal attempts, along with 16 attempts at the free throw line.

Next Five:

[player_tooltip player_id='2479666' first='Jarel' last='Butler'], Fairdale

Colin Daniels, North Oldham

Tyler Weddington, Phelps

Jaelin Groves, McLean County

[player_tooltip player_id='2522623' first='Luk' last='Tut'], West Jessamine

This list highlights the most efficient returning players in the state from last season — those who consistently produced at a high level and made the most of their opportunities. Each player proved to be reliable and selective, particularly when scoring inside or taking quality, high-percentage shots. Efficiency matters, and these athletes showed it night in and night out.
