was top five in field goal percentage a season ago at 68.8 percent. His offense consists of just about everything. Though he is very good inside the paint, he can hurt the opposing team outside the paint as well. He only took four three-pointers last season, but has shown some ability to knock them down. His versatility shows with his size inside, his ability to shoot and his ability to take it to the basket. Hager is a strong overall athlete and excels at a lot of things, which helps his consistency and his efficiency.

Hager is a smooth lefty post who can play inside or out. His future is on the football field but Maddox is a very talented basketball player also. Able to step out and shoot the three or attack off the dribble, it will be interesting to see how Hager is used by the new coach at Boyle County.

One of the state’s most efficient scorers this year, Hager averaged just under 10 points per game this season on 69% shooting. He’s shown some ability to shoot from the perimeter. The immediate concern is that Hager is not putting up big rebounding numbers that you’d expect at his size but that should change if he gets more active around the bucket.

The Harrison County/Boyle game was an ugly one but Hager played well in limited minutes while he battled foul trouble. Maddox found his spots against the Harrison zone to finish 7/11 from the field for 14 points but needs to become a more active rebounder. Only a couple weeks removed from football season, the big Freshman will get better over the course of the winter.

Hager already holds 2 D1 offers in football as a tight end but he’s likely to end up a scholarship level basketball player, too. Maddox shot 53% overall and 38% from three in limited opportunities as a freshman at Boyle and is likely to have a much bigger role this Winter when he’ll be one of the tallest players in the 12th region.

Potential wise, Hager is possibly the best prospect in the class at this stage. Already 6’6 and still growing, Hager is a skilled lefty who can score the ball on the block or stretch out past the 3 point line. He’s only averaging 7 points and 4 rebounds per game now but is making the most of his opportunities by shooting 58% from the field and 50% from three. Before Boyle got their football players back, Maddox averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds per game.
