USA October Minicamp: Sunday morning red standouts

The USA Minicamp was split into two groups with a red group that included players between the ages of 14-16 and a blue group with players from the ages of 16-18. In this article I'll break down the standouts from the morning red standouts.    A powerful guard athlete, Miles displayed impressive burst on the ball and perimeter shot making ability. Preferring the mid-range area to the 3-point shot, I liked that Miles was confident in getting to his spots to pull-up but will be looking for him to consistently extend his range over the next few years. One of the fastest end to end players in the minicamp, Miles was able to push the pace in the open court. One of the top guards in the 2028 class.     I thought Wilson ended the first Sunday session incredibly strong thanks to hit spot-up shot-making ability. Another player who has tremendous athleticism for his age, Wilson looks like he isn't far away physically from playing in a college game tomorrow. Expect to hear a lot more about Wilson over the next few years as he's one of the more impressive wing athletes in the 2028 class.     Washington had his breakout performance of the weekend on Sunday morning where he caught fire from long distance. One of the top shooters in the group, Washington is confident even a few feet behind the line. In transition Washington also had a couple nice finishes at the rim, with a strong and-1 layup. Nice to see Washington put forth such a strong performance.     I loved what Berrouet did in the paint all weekend, maybe leading his group in dunks. Berrouet is a strong big who is surprisingly explosive for a player with his body type. Berrouet had dunks in transition, off pick and rolls, DHO's and putbacks. While Berrouet made a couple of 3-pointers on Sunday, I thought he was his most productive in the paint.     There were only a couple of 2029 prospects invited to the minicamp and Gaskins was clearly the most productive one of the group. Physically dominant compared to his 2029 peers, Gaskins had numerous plays where his physicality was on display with strong interior finishes and offensive rebounds. Gaskins older brother is a top 20 prospect in the 2026 class and Cayden has the potential to be at the top of the 2029 class when it's all said and done.     Similar to Berrouet, Daniels is a little bit of an undersized big in terms of height but Daniels makes up for it with a relentless motor and explosive athleticism. Daniels consistently outran other bigs down the court and would get wide open dunks in transition when there would be nobody but a small guard meeting him at the rim. That type of effort can help you get easy buckets against even the best players in the country. I'll be curious to see how Daniels looks on the Nike scholastic league this winter.
