We are only a few weeks away from the first scrimmages in the lead up to the 2025-26 KHSAA basketball season. The excitement level for this year is high. This is the first time in a few years that we haven't had a few teams that are clearly ahead of the pack in the race for the state title. I am going to be previewing all 16 regions by breaking down the top 5 teams and the top 5 college prospects in each region. Being a top 5 college prospect and being a top 5 player in the region are not the same thing. There are a lot of really good high school players in Kentucky who are not necessarily great college prospects. Here's a look at the top 5 teams and prospects in the fourteenth region, where Perry Central and Hazard expect to play 4 times this season including a regional title game.

Caudill is one of the top players in the mountains and a heavy favorite to be regional player of the year. Seth has had a very good career for Hazard and expects to end it at Rupp Arena. He's been offered by several D2/NAIA schools and has the potential to be a steal for a college when he signs.

Daulton is one of my favorite prospects in this class thanks to his ability to shoot the ball at a high level and willingness to compete. Combs is tough in addition to being really skilled. His transfer to Perry Central should provide him with a lot of opportunity to play with the ball in his hands and showcase his skill level.

Another transfer, Morguson returns to Powell County after a one year stint at George Rogers Clark. Expect Conner to play the majority of the season with the ball in his hands. He's an excellent passer and playmaker who can also score the ball. I think he's at his best when he's attacking the paint and creating the offense for those around him.

Corey has scored a ton of points in his high school career already and should expect more of the same this season. Flinchum is capable of averaging 30+ points per game this season. A player who thrives in the midrange and excels at pulling up off the dribble and knocking down jumpers.

Letcher County Central has big goals this season and Delaney, combined with his brother, make up the backbone of the program. Terry is a double-double machine who could be among the top rebounders in Kentucky this season. Delaney should be in the mix to be regional player of the year if Letcher can get 20+ wins and Terry leads them there.
