Expert Analysis

Daulton was one of my favorite players to watch over the course of his career as he plays extremely hard and shoots the ball at a high level. After averaging 17 points per game in his Senior year while shooting 45% from three, the Pikeville commit made a good case to be the regional player of the year and should be a good role player in college next season.

has established himself among the state’s best shooters, knocking down 55 of his 133 three-point attempts for a 41.4% clip while averaging 3.1 makes per game. He combines deep range with efficiency and has the ability to heat up quickly, often delivering timely shots in key moments. Combs shoots with a smooth touch and quick release, using his lift well to create clean looks, making him not only a high-level perimeter threat but also a complete scoring option.

Daulton is one of my favorite prospects in this class thanks to his ability to shoot the ball at a high level and willingness to compete. Combs is tough in addition to being really skilled. His transfer to Perry Central should provide him with a lot of opportunity to play with the ball in his hands and showcase his skill level.

Daulton is, to me, one of the most under-recruited players in the state. Combs is an elite shooter who has continually improved over his career and should be considered one of the top Seniors in the 14th region this season. This is two years in a row where the 6’3″ guard has been one of the camp standouts.

Combs left for Perry Central after Hazard got a new coach this summer. Daulton has been a really good shooter who has offers at the non-D1 level and often shines in the free flowing offense that comes in camp settings. Combs could be a sleeper this year because of how easily he can score the ball but he’s a good player, regardless.

Few players shot the basketball as well as Combs did on Friday evening with numerous 3-pointers with his feet set. With his size and shooting ability, college coaches are sure to give Combs a chance to hold his own on the defensive end of the court with his height and length. If Combs can consistently impact the game in ways other than making shots on the perimeter, he’ll get minutes sooner rather than later at the college level.

A big time shooter, I’ve seen Daulton really thrive in camp settings as well as be really good in AAU games. Combs is skilled and plays really hard. He’s already earned several opportunities to play in college and could be a big factor in the regional title chase next season.

Hazard is off to an 8-0 start and Combs is a large part of their success so far. Daulton boosted his stock a bunch this summer but I’m not sure anyone expected him to be shooting over 54% from deep this season. If he continues to put up those type of numbers, it will be hard for anyone other than Hazard to win the region.

One of the breakout stars of the summer, Combs moved from 79th to 56th and is trending up, long term. Daulton is a skilled guard who can play on or off the ball and has a good looking jumper with repeatable mechanics. While he’s a below the rim player, Combs knows how to read a defense and make plays once he gets into the paint.

Combs is coming off a big summer where he has gone from relative obscurity to earning multiple scholarship offers. One of the hottest names in “the mountains”, Combs will be interesting to monitor as he could settle back into his role as a third option for the Bulldogs or could ride his wave of momentum into a bigger role this season and beyond.
