One of the more acrobatic finishers at the rim that I saw all day, Couch was able to hang and hit layups to avoid shot blockers at the rim. A slashing wing guard, Couch was at his best when he was able to get all the way to the rim. A right hand dominant finisher, Couch was doing what he could to get back to his preferred hand at the rim. I also liked that Couch boxed out a few times to help secure defensive rebounds, something he’ll need to do at the high school level this winter as well. Strong overall performance from Couch on Sunday.
Couch is a player that I haven’t seen since he was a thin and wiry 8th grader with a lot of potential. I’m excited to see how much better he’s gotten over these last couple of years and am interested to see if he’s ranked way too low.
