Our friends at Prep Hoops Next do a great job of covering the middle school scene, but admittedly we here at Prep Hoops Indiana don't really follow the prospects until they enter high school. Generally speaking, aside from a few exceptions for the very top prospects, our first viewing of any incoming freshmen would be at the Charlie Hughes Showcase in June. Then, we host our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase in the fall. For this first Watch List, which features over 150 prospects, if you did not play at the varsity level in June or attend our showcase it is unlikely that you are on our radar right now. However, that is why we update our rankings multiple times a year and spend so much time in the gym not just in the season, but throughout the offseason as well. This list will continue to grow rapidly in the coming months.

***Full Prep Hoops Indiana Class of 2029 Watch List***

To begin our deeper breakdown of the Class of 2029 prospects we will highlight some of the top players who, if we were to rank them, would likely be in the Top 25 or so of the class. These players will be released randomly and in alphabetical order so there is no sort of "ranking" to be derived from these handful of articles.

Fishers is absolutely loaded in the backcourt with two high-major Division I level junior guards. However, that won't keep Breland from carving out a role right away as a freshman. The 6'2" athletic guard played with the Tigers at the varsity level throughout June and was a key piece for Progeny 15u on the UAA Circuit while playing up a year. He is incredibly smooth with the ball in his hands, can create his own shot from multiple levels, and is explosive end-to-end. Breland is certainly in the conversation for the top spot in Indiana's Class of 2029.

We first had the chance to see Brown play at IU Team Camp in June. The 6'6" forward stood out the most of anyone on the floor in the game we were watching. Then, upon asking around, we found out that he was an incoming freshman. That immediately got us even more excited. Brown, who attends Gary Lighthouse, is incredibly athletic and fluid for his size. He runs the floor well, is effective on the role, and is versatile defensively. It will be fun to follow his progression in the coming years.

It is rare to come across big men that are as polished as Johnson at this age. He is a true back-to-the-basket presence with a full array of post moves. Johnson features quick feet and soft hands for his size which allows him to finish around the basket consistently. Look for him to immediately make a major impact at Delta High School as a freshman. If he continues to grow, even just a couple of more inches, he will be one of the top prospects in Indiana's Class of 2029.

You won't find many freshmen with the athletic and physical tools of Thoman. The 6'3" wing is physically dominant when going against his peers and can compete against all ages. He really stood out at our Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase where he consistently drove it to the basket and finished up around the rim. His ability to handle the ball some and play through contact makes the Shelbyville High School product an incredibly difficult matchup.

Tonagel is one of the most skilled prospects in Indiana's Class of 2029. He stepped into a varsity role in June and put up some monster numbers for Oak Hill High School at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. The 5'11" guard was also one of the top performers for [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] 14u who reached the Jr. EYBL Peach Jam championship game. Tonagel is an outstanding shot-maker that plays with a high basketball IQ and can make any play at any time with the ball in his hands.

In terms of pure upside, Wilson has as high of a ceiling as any Class of 2029 prospect in Indiana. The left-handed forward/center is incredibly long and athletic at 6'7", moves fluidly across the floor, and can be a two-way force at the rim. He could follow in the general mold of fellow Cathedral High School product Xavier Booker who became a nationally sought-after prospect. As he continues to tighten up his all-around game you will see Wilson become highly sought after in his own right.

Our friends at Prep Hoops Next do a great job of covering the middle school scene, but admittedly we here at Prep Hoops Indiana don't really follow the prospects until they enter high school.
