The countdown is on and the Freshman Showcase tips off this Sunday September 7th, and the stage is set for some of the area's top young talent to shine. With confirmed players ready to bring their best on both ends of the floor, this event promises to showcase rising stars eager to make their mark. From offensive firepower to lockdown defense, expect high level competition, breakout performances, and names you'll want to remember.    Tsai brings relentless on ball defense, excellent footwork, and the ability to stay in front of his man. Offensively he can put the ball on the floor, attack off the dribble, use a soft floater, and finish at the rim. At the showcase we'll be looking to see how he pressures the ball handler, turns defense into transition offense, and makes smart reads when attacking the lane. If he can pair his defensive energy with consistent scoring touches and decision making, Tsai could emerge as one of the most well rounded guards in the gym     Smith has the ability to score at all three levels, take defenders off the dribble, and create defensive pressure that leads to turnovers. At the showcase how can he put that complete skill set to work. Whether it's breaking down defenders to get to his spots, knocking down shots consistently from the field and turning defense into instant offense. If he can show poise while controlling the tempo and impacting both ends of the floor, Smith will leave little doubt that he can be a dynamic two way playmaker     Rothe turned heads this summer with Team Daum by applying constant defensive pressure and showing he can finish effectively around the rim. We will really be looking to see how he expands his offensive game to the perimeter by knocking down open looks, shooting with confidence, and forcing defenses to respect him beyond the paint. If he can pair his disruptive defense with reliable perimeter scoring, Rothe will show he's a true two way contributor capable of impacting every possession     Williams takes pride in his ability to score, whether it's breaking defenders down in the half court to get to his spots, or using his length and floor awareness to score efficiently in transition. Defensively he applies constant on ball pressure that disrupts opposing guards. We want to see that he can impact both ends of the floor for extended stretches. Williams can do that by controlling the tempo, scoring efficiently, and wearing down his matchup defensively to solidify himself as one of the more complete prospects on the floor     Asp is that player who consistently finds ways to create opportunities for himself. He's quick on the catch and shoot, gets to his pull up spots efficiently, and can attack the rim off the dribble. At the showcase we want him to build on that offensive arsenal by showing how he reads defenses, creates for others when help comes, and impacts the game without the ball in his hands. If he can add layers of playmaking, defensive consistency, and decision making under pressure to his already impressive scoring skill set, Asp's value as a complete guard will rise quickly
