Illinois’ Sophomore ID Camp: More 2028 Top Prospects

Prep Hoops was back in the Chicagoland area over the weekend. We had a chance to see 4 hours worth of play from some of the top guys in the state of the class of 2028 in Batavia, IL compete. We just went through evaluations from specific teams at the showcase. In this article, let's breakdown some more guys from other teams that I had the opportunity of seeing from Teams 4, 5, 12, and 13.      Crafty point guard with great feel and rhythm throughout the day. Has a lot of confidence handling and is well established vs pressure. One of the top ball handlers in the gym. Even at his size was active on the glass gaining multiple rebounds and then initiating transition offense. Tough to stay in front of with a quick first step. Showed plenty of scoring instincts as well pulling up from 3's off the dribble or finishing in traffic on the drive. Overall played with control and creativity making things happen on both sides of the ball.     Matured height for age with a solid mobility level. Sets ball screens for guards and stays active in the half court setting. At his size he showed ability to put the ball on the deck and get to the cup. Drove it a couple times to get to the stripe. Caught it on the block with good positioning showing quickness to make a spin move off defenders weak side. With combination of size and movement it makes for a tough cover in the paint area. Defensively creates a challenging presence near the basket.       [player_tooltip player_id='2411585' first='Bilguun' last=''] showed he's a poised sniper from mid and long range in game 2 of 5v5 action. In first half alone he went 3 for 3 off the bat knocking down 2 3's and another mid range. 2 of which were off the dribble. Has solid mechanics and rhythm getting into his shot selection. Spaces well off drives to open areas for opportunities. A true 2 man at this point that can impact offensively with a pure shot.     A small forward who knows how to utilize strength on the drive with control and pace. Made a cool spin move off the dribble to go right through defenders body and lay it up over outstretched arms. Followed up again with another strong take to the rim. Had another drive where he absorbed contact and converted on an impressive And1 finish. Overall knows how to finish plays in tight spaces and uses physicality with smart IQ to get downhill.     Let's the game come to him with good feel. Smooth creative handler that got into a rhythm in the final game of 5's. Utilized hesitations, in and outs, and crossovers to get a step on defender. Most impressed with ability to bait defense into the action then spray it out accordingly for better shot selections. Tallied multiple assists by making the correct reads when defense collapsed. Mixed it up with scoring and sharing abilities. Utilized quickness on the defensive side as well. Will impact game in multiple settings.     Stuck out because of his energy and effort to play with a motor to end the day's festivities. Created a big physical presence working hard on the glass grabbing a few offensive boards for second chance opportunities. Converted on multiple scores getting to the cup and consistently running the floor at a solid pace in transition. Hedged a ball screen defensively with intensity to force a turnover. Shows good awareness to create space. Overall liked his activity and mobility on both sides of the ball using length effectively.
