My annual Film Room series is back for another year! There were over 100 prospects who submitted High School, Grassroots, or Camp Highlights for review and all will be featured in an article on Prep Hoops. Check out my thoughts on the seventh group of 2027s and watch their film in the post from @AndrewBaxleySC on X (Twitter):

[player_tooltip player_id='2385379' first='Jabari' last='Deas'] (Goose Creek) - Leading off Part 7 of the 2027 Film Room is [player_tooltip player_id='2385379' first='Jabari' last='Deas']. The athletic, two-way guard is the first of several [program_tooltip program_id='2842739' first='843' last='Tough'] prospects in this list. He is proficient in getting to the rim, both with a head of steam in transition and with a quick first step in the half-court. Deas isn't the biggest guard, but he is a very determined finisher around bodies. Jabari's film also showed flashes of his perimeter stroke, which could be a key part of his development.

[player_tooltip player_id='2620676' first='Pierre' last='Louis'] (First Baptist) - Pierre is a 6'2" Forward who frequently made plays around the rim on film. He did so at both ends, with very good instincts to block shots and soft touch at the rim. Louis also works hard to clean the glass, particularly on the offensive end, where he displayed his positioning. He showed glimpses of being a versatile defender, being active in passing lanes on a few clips.

[player_tooltip player_id='1537909' first='Jack' last='Mevold'] (Philip Simmons) - [player_tooltip player_id='1537909' first='Jack' last='Mevold'] will be at the upcoming Prep Hoops Carolinas Top 250 Expo, so it was good to review his film prior to the event. Jack displayed a great balance of inside-out scoring, showing skill with his back to the basket while also facing up with jumpers at the free-throw line and behind the arc. Mevold is a patient interior scorer with a good spin move, and his size makes him a difficult matchup at times.

[player_tooltip player_id='2919317' first='Dominic' last='Brown'] (Fort Dorchester) - Brown had an impressive highlight reel from this summer. He is one of the most well-rounded finishers I've seen in this series, displaying creativity in getting to the bucket, strength in finishing with either hand, and the ability to finish over shot-blockers with floaters or around them with athletic finishes. Dominic will also contribute on the defensive end of the floor in several ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='2551873' first='Austin' last='Clark'] (R.B. Stall) - Austin displayed a nice feel for making plays in the paint. His quickness and pull-up mid-range game open up passing lanes, and he has the IQ to make the correct read. When defenses rotate up, Clark will find his big in the dunker spot, or if they drop off he will connect from 15 feet. He is also a capable three-point shooter who can punish defenses that go under screens.

[player_tooltip player_id='2367665' first='Deron' last='Ross'] (Darlington) - Ross had a nice AAU Season with Upward Pee Dee, but his highlights came from his Sophomore Year at Darlington High School. Deron has one of the best mid-range games in the state. He gets to his spots with a strong handle and elevates over contests with an athletic base. His film also showed flashes of his facilitating, but that is something I would like tp see him make major strides in 2025-26.

[player_tooltip player_id='2077168' first='Devin' last='Powers'] (Battery Creek) - Rounding out this year's 2027 Film Room is Battery Creek's [player_tooltip player_id='2077168' first='Devin' last='Powers']. Powers submitted highlights from the SCBCA Live Team Camp, where he made a big impact in the backcourt. He is a very good on-ball defender with active hands and decent length. Devin is also a solid passer who looks to keep his teammates involved in many ways.
