Region 4's Small School Standouts

In a region often headlined by powerhouses Bowling Green and Warren Central, there's no shortage of small-school talent making an impact. From last year's regional runner-up to a potential region player of the year candidate, this article spotlights some of the top Class “A” standouts in the Fourth Region.    [player_tooltip player_id='2749493' first='Jaxson' last='Mason'] returns as Clinton County's top scorer after helping lead the Bulldogs to a historic season that included a trip to the Class “A” State semifinals and a 4th Region runner-up finish. He averaged 14.3 points per game while shooting an efficient 51% from the field. Mason's combination of size and skill makes him a versatile threat. He has a quick release, a reliable perimeter shot, and the ability to defend multiple positions. A standout athlete, he also serves as Clinton County's starting quarterback. Alongside teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2749495' first='Will' last='Beaty'], Mason forms one of the region's most dynamic duos.     [player_tooltip player_id='2749495' first='Will' last='Beaty'] was a key contributor to Clinton County's historic run last season, averaging 12.3 points per game while leading the team in made three-pointers with 46. A reliable perimeter shooter with a smooth release, Beaty combines size and shooting ability to create matchup problems for opponents. He's a capable on-ball defender with quick hands, and he consistently makes plays in transition, where he finishes with confidence. His versatility on both ends of the floor and his ability to stretch defenses make him a valuable asset for any program.     [player_tooltip player_id='2515142' first='Cade' last='Button'] stands out for his craftiness, basketball IQ, and ability to make smart plays under pressure. He moves well without the ball, ready to shoot or attack off the dribble, and consistently finds teammates with his unselfish approach. A crafty scorer with a tight handle, he finishes at the rim, draws fouls, and handles defensive pressure with poise. Comfortable at his own pace, Button thrives even against doubles and heavy defense. One of the top candidates for Fourth Region Player of the Year, he holds an offer from Lindsey Wilson.     Branson [player_tooltip player_id='2398439' first='William' last='']s is a versatile athlete who shines on both the hardwood and the gridiron. On the court, he brings size, skill, and scoring ability, capable of impacting the game in multiple ways. A a lot of potential as a shooter and strong finisher at the rim, he also handles the ball well and defends with toughness. Last season, [player_tooltip player_id='2398439' first='William' last='']s averaged a double-double with 15.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, establishing himself as a consistent force on both ends. Paired with teammate Brison Nuckols, he forms one of the top duos in the Fourth Region.     Brison Nuckols paced the Falcons last season, averaging 18.3 points per game while shooting an impressive 52% from the field, 44% from three, and 86% at the free throw line. He put his full skill set on display in a standout performance against Russell County, where he poured in 38 points with six assists, shooting 69% from the floor, 56% from beyond the arc, and 92% from the line, while also adding a steal and two blocks.     Gavin Craft earned 16th District All-Tournament honors after making a strong impact in just 20 games last season. He averaged 11.5 points per game while shooting an efficient 53% from the field and an impressive 47% from three. Craft has a quick release, moves well to create open looks, and is capable of catching fire from deep, as he showed with a seven three-pointer performance against Russell County.     As a junior, Logan Nix became the first player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points. He averaged 18.6 points per game on 55% shooting while leading the Falcons with 9.6 rebounds, helping guide FCA to a 19-5 record.
