One of my favorite players at The Showcase, [player_tooltip player_id='2926222' first='Jimmy' last='Binnie'] was among the smallest prospects in stature in Des Moines, but he played much larger than his physical presence. In fact, he nearly made my All-Showcase team.

Not afraid of anyone, Binnie threw his body into players much larger than him when going after rebounds, passed the rock among the best on the court (including a behind the back pass in transition to a teammate for an easy layup), shot well from the outside, could finish with either hand, did some talking in the process and more. The son of a former Dayton forward who stood at 6'7", [player_tooltip player_id='2926222' first='Jimmy' last='Binnie'] Sr., the young point guard likely has a growth spurt coming, but even if not, Binnie finds a way to impact the game. This is a name to watch for the next four years.

A ball-mover on the perimeter, [player_tooltip player_id='2826216' first='Brady' last='Flores'] didn't let the offense stagnate for Team 6. He wasn't afraid to let it fly from deep, either, when he had an open shot. His main calling card was his defensive presence, as Flores didn't allow any easy baskets at the rim, playing physical defense and making things difficult on his assignment.

A long guard on the way up for an eastern Iowa powerhouse in Linn-Mar, [player_tooltip player_id='2613904' first='Landon' last='Fourtner'] showed the ability to create for himself and for others. A solid three-point shooter, Fourtner caught kick-out passes on the perimeter and used a dribble to open himself up for knockdown three-point shots. A confident ball-handler, Fourtner can weave his way through traffic for tough layups and to find open shooters. With his head up, he also made several nice lead passes for easy layups in transition.

Labeled as “Mr. Finish Through Contact,” after his performance in the five-on-five portion of the day, All-Showcase wing [player_tooltip player_id='2919953' first='Lane' last='Livingston'] had numerous and-one layups in the time that I was able to watch him play. Livingston has a solid, all-around game, but his ability to finish at the rim despite taking some strong contact is what stood out most. Livingston could step out and shoot it, too, and showed flashes of being a high-level, anticipatory passer.

Set to be teammates with Livingston at Norwalk, [player_tooltip player_id='2921091' first='Brycen' last='Markun'] stands just an inch taller than his teammate, but served more as a forward than a wing like Livingston. At the same time, Markun could put the ball on the floor and finish off the glass. He also showed some consistent effort as a rebounder.

Hailing from just over the Missouri border and into Kansas, Connor Mullen made the trip to Des Moines from the Kansas City area, as he's set to play for Blue Valley High School this coming year. With some out of bounds plays drawn up for him as the shooter, Mullen popped open for threes and knocked them down. A heads-up defender in transition, he also helped prevent an easy bucket by the opposing team.

Another out-of-stater, Ayden Nelson played near the basket for Team 5 as it's tallest player, standing at 6'3". A rim-protector on the defensive side of the floor, Nelson possesses the length to swat away shots for his team and to get physical on the boards as a rebounder.

Hailing from Dubuque, [player_tooltip player_id='2934558' first='Parker' last='Schmidt'] looks to have the potential to be a high-level shooter in his future. Not super aggressive but willing to take open shots, Schmidt is a knockdown shooter from the mid-range and can step outside to shoot the three. With a high release and a smooth stroke, if Schmidt continues to get the reps as a shooter, he could quickly earn himself a roster spot on varsity.
