Did a nice job of spacing away on the drive and making the extra pass. Hands and feet are ready for kickouts. Splashed home a 3 after his big sprayed it out. Dropped off an assist coming off a ball screen quickly. Always is moving when he doesn't have it away from the ball which creates more open space for ball handler to go to work. Defensively communicates calling out screens even when not in the action of the play. Positioning is great staying between ball and man. Truly position less. Let's the game come to him with sound decision making skills and patience. Really solid hands and feet. Can square up the defender with the ball and then operate efficiently making good reads. Uses his body effectively when finishing to go through contact and convert. Defensively was comfortable guarding in the paint contesting shots or moving quickly on the perimeter. Markese was one of a few select guys today that could handle it like a guard yet play on the inside like a polished 4 or 5 man. Did a lot of the finer details correctly. Jumped the passing lane for a turnover, got on the floor for loose balls, closes out hard to help on an open man then recovers, and fights around screens. Started off the day by hitting a deep volleyball line 3 to help team get off on the right step. Made good use of hands and arms to get into the passing lanes defensively while maintaining fundamental positioning off the ball. Just as solid guarding on the ball making offense work for their spots. Offensively runs the floor at a fast rate speeding up the game. Hustles with grit and determination saving the ball out of bounce or diving for loose balls. Made a tough assist off an EOB set to find a cutter for a quick assist. Defensively guarded hard nosed on and off the ball. Liked his grittiness defensively presenting a tough challenge. Shifty off the bounce and can handle pressure vs double teams. Can create offense naturally and see opening gaps when available. Runs the court well with longer strides. Uses wing span effectively in multiple phases of the game. Got his hands on passes for deflections and turnovers. Rebounds it high. Had a great take coast to coast through traffic after d boarding to finish. Made another transition take which he slammed home one handed. Super smooth and agile with the rock. Comfortable handling it under pressure. Stretches the floor out with length creating openings for teammates. Sees the floor well in the primary break phase. Made multiple pitch ahead passes for quick hitters in game 1 and bought it down at times when necessary. Cut hard out of an EOB across the paint to retrieve it and score. Defensively I liked his close outs on other bigs staying low with good positioning.
