High School Spotlight: Westfield Shamrocks

The season is still a few months away, but it is never too early to look ahead at the high school season. We will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and more for the upcoming season. He is 149-87 as a head coach.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Looking to possibly compete for a Sectional 8 Championship. </li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Player: [player_tooltip player_id='1988138' first='Drew' last='Haffner']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When it comes to underrated teams in Class 4A that could surprise a lot of people this season, the Westfield Shamrocks could be that team and they will be led by senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1988138' first='Drew' last='Haffner']. Haffner returns as the leading scorer for this team averaging 12.4 point as a junior. Haffner is one of the best pure scorers in the Indianapolis area with an ability to score from behind the arc and off the dribble with high athleticism. He recently earned his first D1 offer to Le Moyne but also has offers from Huntington, U-Indy, Taylor, Kentucky Wesleyan, and others. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='1989377' first='Brock' last='Detamore']/[player_tooltip player_id='2414955' first='Luke' last='Vandegriff']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/justin-kirby/"></a></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The supporting cast around [player_tooltip player_id='1988138' first='Drew' last='Haffner'] is what makes Westfield an intriguing team and the two guys that top list are senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1989377' first='Brock' last='Detamore'] and junior center [player_tooltip player_id='2414955' first='Luke' last='Vandegriff']. With Detamore, he has been on a steady rise as a player averaging 8.0 points as a junior and then having a strong summer with Team Indiana 2026. Detamore is a very tough as a guard, can score well at all levels, and defends at a high level. Vandegriff is the prospect with the most intrigue with him expected to be thrown into a much more important role in the front court this season.
