Here's some of my first takes from the Freshman ID camp in Batavia Sunday Morning. Player evaluations will come in the coming weeks.

3v3 Take

Unlike yesterday, we got to see some 3v3 drills at today's freshman expo. I was covering on court 2 and saw a few notable prospects. One of whom was Warren Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2883710' first='Shaquille' last='Henry'], who did an excellent job of creating his own shot and converting 3-pointers with confidence. Andrew Dillon from Mauston, Wisconsin, also stood out with some good shooting g as a guard. On the inside, St. Patrick's [player_tooltip player_id='2950545' first='Bennett' last='Short'] showcased strong post moves and interior defense to stay ahead of the competition. Late in this drill, I saw a strong outing from Marlon Sabourin. The Crystal Lake product already shows a great frame and made an impact on both sides.

Lots of St Patrick Kids

Several kids from St. Pats caught my attention Sunday morning. Short was one of those guys, who I mentioned in the 3v3 piece. But the one who has the most potential in the is group is [player_tooltip player_id='2458171' first='Riley' last='Walson'], who was a true game changer on his team. Currently listed at 6'3". Walson could be an elite combo-guard in his class. [player_tooltip player_id='2403284' first='Constantine' last='Legatos'] played with him on the same team today and was a productive glue guy. Point Guard Israel Sanchez is smaller but has great ball skills. A fourth prospect, Stephen Kurek, found his way as a cutter and moved really well off the ball.

Jonny Udoiwood Catches Fire

Udoiwood had an outstanding start in his second matchup of the day. Knocking down several 3-pointers to begin that game. As that game went on, he showcased superb speed to get up and down the floor. Leading to some easy finishes in transition. Finished with 25 points in the first half of that game. He's listed at 5'9" but should have tons of room to still grow, which is always exciting about players who perform this well. Hails from right up the street in Geneva.

Teams 6 and 7 play with Tempo

In the third round of matchups, I covered a game between two groups that played with incredible pace. It in no-way was because of lackluster defense, as I was impressed with both teams ability to get up and down the floor. But there's was tons of electric prospects out there. That includes Jonny Underwood who, was sensational throughout the contest. That team also had Mohammad Tang, an [program_tooltip program_id='2078448' first='Illinois' last='Wolves'] kid I watched in July that can score from all three levels. On the other team, Alliance Willis (Kenosha, WI) did a great job commanding the offense. [player_tooltip player_id='2950807' first='Tylin' last='Lott'] (SHG) and Stefanie McDonald (Centennial) hit a variety of different shots to keep the tempo going strong, too.

Henderson, Alispahic Propel Team 9

I ended the freshman showcase covering Team 9 and Team 16. The size and athleticism from a duo on team 9 could not be matched in this one. Elon Henderson (Leo) was a dominant force on the inside. Winning every rebound in his area and making so many other athletic plays near the rim. 6'4" Wing [player_tooltip player_id='2948540' first='Emran' last='Alispahic'] (Niles Notre Dame) was the other guy who helped get this group over the jump. He played with tremendous pace while showing he can score from all three levels. Best moment came when Alispahic broke an opponents ankles midway through the contest.

Here's some of my first takes from the Freshman ID camp in Batavia Sunday Morning. Player evaluations will come in the coming weeks.
