The AAU season may officially be over and while yes, we are in a bit of a down period of the year, it does not mean that we cannot look back and highlight some of our prospects from the summer. For me, I will be narrowing down five players in the 2026, 2027, and 2028 class that stood out to me this past summer. Please note that is very difficult to narrow this just down to five as I watched hundreds of prospects from the state over the past few months, I wanted to look at guys that really caught my attention. Here are five guys from the 2026 class that stood out to me this summer.

If there is a player in the instate 2026 class that is going to breakout to that next level, it could very well be Columbus East guard [player_tooltip player_id='2399375' first='Keaton' last='Lawson']. Full transparency, I had not see much of Lawson before this summer but I am so glad I did because he was easily one of the best prospects I saw. He is a smooth athletic guard that can play spots 1-3 with ease and is very comfortable being that playmaker on the ball. He has earned a few offers recently and I think it is only a matter of time he earns much more. I urge any coach, at any level, to go check him out for Columbus East this season.

Out of all the big men I was able to watch this summer, arguably the one that intrigued me the most was Parke Heritage big man [player_tooltip player_id='2272232' first='Isaac' last='Pickel']. With incredible length and mobility at 6'8, Pickel is one of the better big man prospects in the 2026 class and has one of the best motors you will see out of guy his size. He plays above the rim, can protect rim, and even hit a mid-range jumper from time to time. Parke Heritage will be one of the better teams in the state this season, so getting eyes on Pickel should be a must for college coaches.

One of the toughest and up-and-coming guards I got a chance to watch a few times this summer is Westfield's [player_tooltip player_id='1989377' first='Brock' last='Detamore']. The 6'0 guard feels like one of those "do it all" type of players when you watch him compete on the hardwood. He can run an offense, be that point of attack on the defensive end, shoot it from deep, score in the lane, facilitate, and much more. I expect him to have a big season for Westfield.

In a few different events throughout the summer, I got a chance to watch Lawrence Central senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561118' first='Doron' last='Harris'], who easily become one of my favorite prospects very early on this AAU season. There may not be a more shifty and quicker guard on the ball than Harris. He is a blur on the floor and can easily get past defenders scoring in the lane, and even proving to be a very consistent three point scorer as well. He could carry Lawrence Central to big wins this season.

One of the more improved players that I watched over the summer was Heritage Hills wing [player_tooltip player_id='1560951' first='Jake' last='Prior'], who ran with Team Indiana this summer. Prior has come into his own as a player being one of the better three level scorers in the 2026 class using his length and IQ to make plays both on and off the ball. He is playing with a ton of confidence and just one of those guys that seems to make players better around him. In the southern Indiana area, Prior is one you need to watch.
