The Tune Up Texas: Top 16U Scoring Guards Leaving an Impact

The Tune Up Texas provided spectators with competitive games, rising athletes and much more! Throughout the tournament I was able to evaluate five scoring guards that left an impact on the floor while also providing other skills sets that separate themselves from the majority.    Jakob Dantzler possesses a slithering handle that allows him to evade his defenders before launching his attacks. Offensively, he excelled in attacking the basket, accounting for the majority of his points that way. Additionally, he can make shots from the perimeter off the catch, making multiple attempts throughout the weekend. With the ball in his possession, he can make plays for others in the half-court, frequently finding the open man. A crucial momentum boost for his team's lead came from his shot from the wing. He received the ball open after an effective off-ball screen set by his teammate. Logan demonstrated his ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates, shoot from the perimeter, attack the basket, and dictate the pace of the offense, which primarily revolves around him. Despite the on-ball pressure from defenders, he remained composed and patiently initiated the offense. Considering his graduation in 2028, I wouldn't be surprised to hear more of his name in the coming years. Logan undoubtedly stood out as one of the most skilled guards in the 16U division this weekend. He capitalized on his second-half surge, making crucial plays when it mattered most. Notably, Luca was responsible for the game-winning steal and layup that secured the win for [program_tooltip program_id='2885301' first='Texas' last='Elite DFW']. Throughout the game, I was impressed by his ability to drive to the basket and simultaneously space the floor with his perimeter shooting. Defensively, Luca's anticipation allowed him to get into passing lanes and steal the ball.     [player_tooltip player_id='2557195' first='Lincoln' last='Wright'], a 2027 guard, showcased his exceptional scoring prowess from all three levels of the court. For [program_tooltip program_id='2422086' first='In' last='and Out Elite 3SGB'] 2027, Lincoln played a pivotal role in propelling the offense forward. Despite the LA Clippers' overwhelming victory, he emerged as the sole player who consistently demonstrated hard work and dedication to keep his team motivated. In such a blowout situation, players who put in the effort to reduce the lead are highly respected, and Lincoln exemplified this by individually cutting down the deficit. With Lincoln graduating in the class of 2027, I am optimistic about his future, as I believe he has the potential to translate his exceptional scoring ability to the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='2562036' first='Damian' last='Rodriguez'] showcased his offensive prowess against Team GME 16U, making it seem like he couldn't miss a shot. His ability to quickly release perimeter shots, coupled with his playmaking and quick handle, crippled the Team GME 16U defense. With a final 19 points, Damian sealed the victory for Team Phoenix 16U. If the defense allows him, Damian can quickly get on a scoring streak. I was particularly impressed with his security when handling the ball, as he made multiple plays in the half-court within the flow of the offense.
