About Damian
Expert Analysis
Jay Frye | Prep Hoops Scout
Rodriguez controlled tempo extremely well in transition-heavy stretches and consistently pushed the pace to create early offense opportunities. He played with urgency off defensive rebounds and advanced the ball quickly to generate paint touches before defenses were set. In half-court settings, he showed patience navigating ball screens and delivered accurate kick-outs to shooters when weak-side help collapsed. Rodriguez also competed defensively and stayed active pressuring opposing guards in the backcourt. His ability to blend speed with decision-making made him one of the more productive playmakers at the event.
✅ Uptempo offensive facilitator
✅ Transition decision-maker
✅ Ball-screen playmaking instincts

showed the ability to control the game with his pace and IQ, his potential to handle and operate in a structured system was on full display as a translatable trait for the next level. Vocal, patient, and sets things up by manipulating defenses with his eyes. Rodriguez was always looking to get the ball ahead but never in a rush or forcing the issue, making accurate hit-ahead and advance passes that busted full-court defensive coverages and created early offense.

is a microwave scorer from all three levels that can get on a hot streak quick if the defense allows him too. In the first game I watched him play against Team GME 16U he showed his playing making, decision making and speed with the ball resulting in a huge win for his team. As I looked at his game more over the rest of the weekend Damian didn’t let his foot on the gas as he continued to make an impact on offense. I really liked his pace playing the guard position throughout the Tune Up Texas weekend.
What’s Next for Damien?
Damien is currently going into his junior year at V.R Eaton in Fort Worth where he will have an opportunity to carry on his summer momentum into the fall. With more development in the next two years, I believe Damien can get some offers due to his offensive work. To be more formidable he has to emphasize working on more aspects of his game. Look for Damien to continue developing over time!

showcased his offensive prowess against Team GME 16U, making it seem like he couldn’t miss a shot. His ability to quickly release perimeter shots, coupled with his playmaking and quick handle, crippled the Team GME 16U defense. With a final 19 points, Damian sealed the victory for Team Phoenix 16U. If the defense allows him, Damian can quickly get on a scoring streak. I was particularly impressed with his security when handling the ball, as he made multiple plays in the half-court within the flow of the offense.
