The month of June is an important one for high school basketball as returning players come back to their high school programs from club basketball to start getting ready for next season. It's also a time that's interesting in that players who are looking to transfer schools will suit up for their new teams and get accustomed to new teammates and systems of play. While there's no guarantee these players will definitely attend and play at these new destinations in the fall - it's only official once school starts - but it is an indication of what's to come for next season.

We certainly aren't looking to glamorize what's now known as the "high school transfer portal" but it is a fact of life in prep sports these days and we do want all to stay up to date with what's going on in the basketball scene. That said, here are some of the top transfers at and going into the 6A level that we either saw or were made aware of this past month.

[player_tooltip player_id='2026054' first='Isaac' last='Bongen'] - Jesuit to Central Catholic

After two seasons at Jesuit - where last season he earned 6A State All-Tournament honors - the state's current top-ranked player in the 2027 class will be off to Central Catholic. The electric athlete may have been coming off the bench during the month of June with the Rams but was hitting shots, making plays on defense, and finishing in transition in the action we were able to watch of him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1787372' first='Ryder' last='Zanon'] - Central Catholic to Southridge

After spending all of his high school career at private schools so far - he played as a freshman at Catlin Gabel - Zanon will use his senior season at Southridge where the big man figures to play a big part in the Skyhawks success. Surrounded by shooters, the rising 6-foot-9 senior has been effective getting position in the post and getting the ball out to open shooters for looks, while also using his footwork and soft touch to get buckets down low.

[player_tooltip player_id='2245263' first='Syrius' last='Owens'] - Roosevelt to Clackamas

Another former PIL standout headed for a new location is Owens, who is coming off a breakout season after averaging 14.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks this past year at Roosevelt. The long and lanky 6-foot-6 forward proved to be an instant contributor for Clackamas in June with not only his ability to score around the hoop but hit the boards on both ends and defend the rim. His presence may elevate the Cavs into state tournament contention.

[player_tooltip player_id='2352621' first='Kai' last='Holmes'] - Marist to Sheldon

A player moving up in classification is Holmes, who goes from 4A Marist (where he was First Team All-Sky-Em and Honorable Mention All-State) up to Sheldon where he'll be a big boost to a program that graduated several key seniors. While he stands 6-foot-6 and will be expected to contribute inside, the rising senior has tremendous perimeter skills and should prove himself as a multi-faced threat on the offensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2375392' first='Kaiden' last='Wilson'] - Seton Catholic (WA) to Central Catholic

There are a handful of out-of-state newcomers to Oregon for 2025-26 and none may be bigger than Wilson, the son of former University of Portland standout Donald Wilson. The rising junior has a physically mature body and like his father, tremendous leaping ability which allows him to play above the rim. Add in a sweet looking jumper and the ability to get to the cup and Wilson could be a candidate for the top ranked spot in the Class of 2027.

[player_tooltip player_id='2132831' first='Malcolm' last='Weatherspoon'] - Mountain View (WA) to Central Catholic

Another transplant from Washington headed to Central Catholic is Weatherspoon, who comes down from Vancouver. Like AAU teammate Wilson, the 6-foot-2 wing is also a high-riser capable of throwing down multiple dunks per game, but can also get hot from three-point range. Defensively he's capable of using his length and speed to really create problems for opponents and he plays with overall toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2899024' first='Takeo' last='McCrae'] - Millennium (AZ) to Tualatin

After spending last season in Arizona, McCrae returns to Oregon and suited up with Tualatin in June. The 6-foot-4 rising senior is blessed with a muscular physique and good athleticism, with the ability to knock down deep jumpers and create off the dribble. His versatility and ability to play and guard multiple positions will come in handy for head coach Bubba Lemon and the Timberwolves.

[player_tooltip player_id='2132790' first='Kahllel' last='Jackson'] - Rosemary Anderson Prep to Jefferson

After starting his high school career at Rosemary Anderson Prep, Jackson heads over to Jefferson will he should be an instant impact player for head coach Rob Smaller. The 6-foot guard plays with grit and toughness, can get to the hoop and finish, and after playing with and against high level competition at the prep school, he won't be afraid of anything that's ahead of him in the PIL or in all of 6A.
