It is officially the July Live Evaluation Period where Division 1 coaches can be out and watch any game and prospect that they want. Prep Hoops Indiana is also out and about the next full week and will catch multiple instate prospects and see some top performances as well. Here are some of my standouts so far from the first live period in July.

The incoming senior guard out of Westfield was one of the more productive guards that I have seen so far in July. Playing for Team Indiana 2026, Detamore showed his quickness both on and off the ball as a distributer, cutter, and shooter. He is crafty in the lane does a good job of drawing contact and getting to the free throw line as a guard. Real consistent as a three-point shooter off the catch as well.

A player that has been on a steady rise this summer is Geroge Washington's [player_tooltip player_id='1988137' first='Roosevelt' last='Franklin'], who I once again got a chance to watch the other day down playing in the 3SSB circuit for Team Indiana. His motor and ability to keep plays alive is what instantly stands out to me with him being a guard that is willing to give that extra effort on the glass and defensively. He is explosive in the lane and loves to push the pace whenever he can.

The 6'6 forward out of Crown Point continues to impress every time he steps on the floor and it is awesome to see just how much he has developed as a basketball player over the years. Playing for Indiana Elite 2026, Shaw plays his role very well and brings a strong presence in the paint for them. Really good at backing down the defender to get looks around the rim and rebounding on both ends of the floor. He has been very tough around the basket this summer and that has continued down in Rock Hill. Would expect more offers to come his way.

On Friday I had a chance to get eyes on [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 2026 and almost right away, Newman-Nwodika stood out to me by just how much of a load he is in the paint. While he is shorter for a post player, there is simply just no moving this guy in the paint and will always seemingly have a chance to get a rebound in his area just due to his size and strength. Thought he was impactful around the basket scoring pretty consistently with a soft touch. A under-the-radar big man in the 2026 instate class.

The 5-10 guard out of Brownsburg was easily one of more shifty and dynamic players I got a chance to watch on Friday. Still running with [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] 2026, Addison brings a lot of quickness on the ball being able to play past defenders and make a play in the lane. He is not afraid of a challenge it seems like and scores really well off the bounce. get can really dictate the pace of play at times and get the defense off-balance. He plays very hard on the floor.

An under-the-radar player that has been sneakily having a really good AAU season this year has been Lawrence North's [player_tooltip player_id='2252744' first='Duke' last='Karnes'], who runs with Hoopmatics 17u on the 3SSB circuit. Got a chance to watch him vs [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] on Friday and what caught my eye was ability to make plays on the ball, even though he is mostly looked at as a shooter off the ball. He did a good job of taking his defender off the dribble being able to get a quick burst of speed in the lane to finish. He is longer guard, but has tight enough handles to where he can be a facilitator or scorer off the pull-up. Good feel for the game.

The 6'6 Pike forward [player_tooltip player_id='2266897' first='Kenneth' last='Lampley'] has been a player this summer that has really impressed me in the times that I have gotten a chance to watch. Got to see him a few times so far for Meanstreets and have noticed just how good he can be at using his power and length to drive and draw contact. He can be a little bit of mismatch on the wing given his size as smaller perimeter defenders can have trouble staying in front of him. He is also starting to become a very valuable rebounder and a guy that can give you second chance point opportunities. He is progressing well and will be heading into a big junior season for Pike.
