Five to Watch - Maine

We're midway through July and with that, nearing the end up the summer travel circuit and all the exposure it brings for prospects throughout the country.   Prospects from across New England have made sure to leave their mark on games, at camps, and during showcases throughout the months of May, June, and into July.   With just a few weeks left in the summer circuit, we'll check in on five prospects to watch over the coming weeks from each of New England's six states.   First up - five prospects from the state of Maine!    Malcore is a 6'8" big man out of the Kents Hill School. The 2028 prospect has one of the best frames of any big out of Maine; showcasing good positional size, impressive length, and above the rim athleticism. Offensively, he does a nice job of scoring with his back to the basket, can step out and hit perimeter jumpers from the trailer position, and shows nice athletic pop around the rim as a slasher. He passes out of double teams and has the ability to roll or pop out of ball screens. Defensively, he moves his feet well on the perimeter, has a good motor on the glass, and can block shots on or off the ball.     Dougher is a 6'3" wing out of Spruce Mountain. The 2026 prospect is an impressive athlete that can punish rims in transition and is at his best when he gets downhill off the bounce. He uses his length and burst to his advantage as a finisher, has a quick first step off the bounce, and has improved his consistency as a shooter from behind the arc. In transition, he can really run the floor and does a nice job of attacking the rim. Defensively, he has the ability to guard up or down a position, uses his length to make plays in passing lanes, and is capable of being a disruptive on ball defender.     Maiwen is a 6'2" guard out of Edward Little. The 2026 prospect has the ability to operate as an on ball creator or off ball scorer. He has good length on the perimeter, shows some real wiggle off the bounce, and has a lightning quick first step as a driver. He makes plays with good floor vision, knows how to operate out of ball screens, and has a deep bag of scoring moves around the rim. Defensively, he does a nice job of guarding at the point of attack, keeping opposing ball-handlers out of the paint, and using his athletic gifts to his advantage when turning defense into transition offense.     MacDonald is a 6'2" guard out of York. The 2026 prospect is an impressive perimeter scorer that can really shoot the basketball, with deep range. He gets his shot off in catch and shoot situations, using screens to his advantage, and also has the ability to create space with the bounce as a shooter. He's an instinctive cutter that knows how to finish around the rim and also shows a willingness to move the ball without causing it to stick. He uses his basketball IQ to his advantage defensively, showing an understanding of where to be in the help position and in rotations. His versatility, on both ends of the floor, helps to raise his ceiling as a prospect.     Padgett is a 6'5" wing out of Bridgton Academy. The 2026 prospect is a jumbo creator that is at his best with the ball in his hands. While he shows the ability to make shots from the perimeter and to score with athleticism at the rim, he has a great feel for the game with the ball in his hands and uses his size and vision to his advantage as a playmaker. He's really good in transition, showing an understanding of when to pitch it ahead and when to push the ball with the bounce. He's a grab and go rebounder that can guard up and down a position and has the ability to guard both in space and in the paint.
