Malcore, a big man out of the Kents Hill School in Maine, checks in at #4 among the centers and #31 overall. At 6’9″, Malcore is one of the bigger prospect in Class B of the NEPSAC, and combines his size with plus athleticism and a high level of skill to be one of this winter’s standout performers so far. He moves really well for his size, has the ability to score with touch out to the three point line, and does a nice job of using his length and atheticism as a finisher around the rim. On top of all that, he’s a young big that doesn’t shy away from contact, particularly when it comes to making an impact on the glass.

If Clement wasn’t the most intriguing wing/forward at the Huckins Rouse tournament, it was Malcore. The 6-foot-9 sophomore has amazing length and jumping ability and gets high above the rim for finishes when he needs to. But he can also use up fakes and crafty footwork to find easy finishing opportunities in the paint, so he doesn’t always rely on his size and hops beat the defense. I didn’t see him shoot too many outside shots, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s a part of his offensive game as well, or will at least continue to improve as he gets older considering his touch around the hoop. Defensively, he uses his length and timing to impact shots at the rim. Malcore is an extremely intriguing sophomore who should be on the radar of coaches at all levels—anything is possible for this kid.

Malcore, a big out of the Kents Hill School, checks in at #34 overall and #4 among the centers. Malcore is a mobile and versatile 6’9″ big, that clearly still has his best basketball ahead of him. Defensively, his positional size and length are an asset, as he makes a big impact on the glass and as a rim protector. He does a nice job of running the floor in transition, has some developing range on his jumper, and is a capable finisher with his athleticism and strength. He is a good screener that can operate as a roller or pop guy and shows a nice understanding of how to score within the flow of an offense.

Malcore is a 6’8″ big man out of the Kents Hill School. The 2028 prospect has one of the best frames of any big out of Maine; showcasing good positional size, impressive length, and above the rim athleticism. Offensively, he does a nice job of scoring with his back to the basket, can step out and hit perimeter jumpers from the trailer position, and shows nice athletic pop around the rim as a slasher. He passes out of double teams and has the ability to roll or pop out of ball screens. Defensively, he moves his feet well on the perimeter, has a good motor on the glass, and can block shots on or off the ball.

Malcore, who will start his high school career this winter at Kents Hill, is one of the more intriguing long-term prospects to come out of Maine in recent years. A mobile forward with a great feel around the rim, Malcore has improved at a rapid rate over the last year. He’s long and lean and moves his feet well, but has a frame that should support added weight, which will allow him to continue to improve his athleticism and physicality in the paint. Right now, he does a terrific job as a hard roller out of ball screens, shows a good set of hands in the post, and can finish strong at the rim through traffic. When he gets into open space, he’s comfortable putting the ball on the floor for multiple dribbles and even shows the ability to finish above the rim with authority. He’ll be an intriguing prospect to follow going forward and has a chance to end up on the D1 radar sooner rather than later.
