It’s June! The Scholastic Period has begun, meaning prospects across the Palmetto State are back with their High School programs for the next 30 days competing in various camps and events. This weekend I was in North Augusta, South Carolina for the annual South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Live Team Camp. Over 100 SCHSL Schools were in attendance, playing in front of College Coaches. These six players are Guards Under 6′ who stood out above the competition in various ways.

set the bar high for small Guards in North Augusta with a terrific performance in the opening window of games on Friday. He had 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, putting his team on his back for extended stretches of the game. Trevon showcased his ability to play off two feet, finish around shot blockers with either hand, manipulate defenders with his handle, push the pace after turnovers and rebounds, and pull up from three.

Even though he comes off the bench, the Wildcats offense runs much better with White on the court. He went for 17 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals in a win over Northwestern. Damani is very much a playmaker, capable of creating looks for himself and others. He can penetrate a defense off the dribble, keeps his head up to find teammates, finishes through contact, pull-up in the mid-range and behind the arc, and can spot up in the corners when another Guard has the ball.

Donovan is a small but scrappy Guard for the Stratford Knights. He uses his body well to navigate the paint and create space for a shot. He also has good vision to find teammates and keep them involved. Green will do his job defensively too as he looks to get his hands in passing lanes, prevent penetration, crash the glass, and fight for loose balls. He had a solid game in the win over BHP putting up 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

Pierce lived in the paint in Irmo’s win over AC Flora. He stood out with his speed with the ball, his ability to create and play through contact, and his finishing with both hands. Antwoine is also a capable shooter if you leave him open, allowing him to play either position in the backcourt. Pierce contributed defensively with active hands and turned a couple of turnovers into points. He racked up 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals in the win.

Jamerion had one of the higher-scoring performances in front of me on Saturday, going for 23 points in a high-level 1A matchup with Horse Creek. Williams is a handful for defenders because of his speed and shiftiness. He navigates traffic well on his way to the rim and finished strong with multiple and-1s. Jamerion also showed he can score on the perimeter, knocking down three threes in the second half, both off the dribble and off the catch.

, a new face to the Belton-Honea Path Bears. He had a very productive second half, keeping his team in it by turning defense into offense. Miller-Brown worked really hard on the defensive end by getting in passing lanes, stripping ball-handlers, and containing the ball. Although most of his best offensive plays came in transition, he did earn a few trips to the free-throw line with strong drives. Jerzidan put up 14 points and 5 steals in the close loss.
