St. Laurence has a Very Bright Future

St Laurence is a team full of almost all underclassman and put up a big fight vs Neuqua Valley and [player_tooltip player_id='2531981' first='Cole' last='Kelly']. 2027 Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2323617' first='Markese' last='Peoples'] used his physical frame to get several tough buckets early on. [player_tooltip player_id='2385372' first='Noah' last='Corro'] also played well. An efficient shooter and glass cleaner for a point guard. He showcased a smooth floater over two taller defenders in the second half of this game. Later in the contest, 6'4” SG/Wing [player_tooltip player_id='2532014' first='Logan' last='Brown'] stepped up. A spot-up three-pointer gave the Vikings a late lead. A few minutes later, he blocked a shot in the dying seconds to force Overtime. It was in OT where [player_tooltip player_id='2323617' first='Markese' last='Peoples'] converted a key transition bucket to give St Laurence the lead. Followed that up with a game winning free throw. His 28th point of the contest.

Decatur MacArthur Steals the Show vs Romeoville

I originally planned to watch this game to catch some new Romeoville prospects. But that wasn't the case. It was MacArthur who controlled the energy of this matchup from the start. They don't have much size. But they make up for it with their physical play and aggression on both ends. The first name to stand out was 2026 F [player_tooltip player_id='2105414' first='Sean' last='Lee']. He's super aggressive attacking the rim. Converting lots of tough buckets and opened my eyes with a put-back Sunday through the opening half. He even got involved as a playmaker with a few assist chances to open guys on the perimeter. 5'11” G Tishawn Clemens contributed with his ball-handling abilities. Even buried a deep three-pointer late in the first half to give MacArthur a 31-point lead at the break. His third of the contest. The Generals also got outstanding contributions from Jercorey Murphy, a lengthy three-level scorer, and [player_tooltip player_id='2890389' first='Khymir' last='Carson'].

Simeon vs Maine South

Simeon vs Maine south was an intriguing matchup. Both teams displayed so much physicality in all areas of the floor. One of the toughest guys to match up with early on was Simeon's [player_tooltip player_id='2125645' first='Jayden' last='Newell']. Attacking the rim and finishing through contact on several instances. The wolverines also had a big advantage on the boards with several put-back finishes. But Maine Sourh was right there with [player_tooltip player_id='2617446' first='Rico' last='D'Alessandro'] and Panaytiotis Sotos taking control. Sotos hit tough shot after tough shot which included a go-ahead 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to give them their first lead of the game. D'Alessadro took over in the second half of the contest. is best play was an athletic dunk driving baseline. Complementing that with some easy buckets cutting to the rim off the ball and a pair of 3-pointers. The game was very tight, but a late three-pointer from [player_tooltip player_id='2125645' first='Jayden' last='Newell'] gave Simeon a 49-48 win. D'Alessandro led all scorers with 26 points. Sotos scored 18. [player_tooltip player_id='2436956' first='Kamari' last='Hamlin'] led Simeon with 14.

Pats Cruise Past Wheaton Academy

St Patrick put up a dominant two-way effort Sunday afternoon vs Wheaton Academy. The most productive player on the floor was 6'0” 2027 PG [player_tooltip player_id='2437111' first='Steven' last='Quach']. He buried three long shots in the opening stages of the contest to help open things up early. He also did a great job reading passes defensively. Intercepting several passes and leading the charge in transition. They also got lots of production from post players Dylan Mota and [player_tooltip player_id='2823605' first='RJ' last='McPartlin']. Both were super efficient on the glass and utilized their upper-body strength to get tough buckets down low. The Shamrocks cruised to victory in this contest.

Rockford Auburn Building for Big Season

Rockford Auburn has a group that's been playing together for several years. It seems like they've put the pieces together to be a contender in Northern Illinois. We all know [player_tooltip player_id='1845353' first='Amir' last='Danforth']. His two-way abilities were nothing new when watching him vs Batavia. But [player_tooltip player_id='2105407' first='Champ' last='Parker']'s game has also taken a leap. His frame has improved significantly since I last watched, which allowed him to convert some challenging buckets attacking the rim. The explosiveness is something new and was utilized much more than I've seen in the past. Forward Kaidan Dozie intrigued me with his ability to finish at the rim and make an impact on the glass. Royal Whitmore, another senior guard, had one of the best defensive performances of the weekend. Auburn cruised past Batavia 58-42.
