NJBCA Jersey Live: Friday's Biggest Standouts Part II

The NJBCA Jersey Live Showcase at Montgomery High School gathered the top high school basketball talent from across the state, offering college coaches a prime opportunity to get their eyes up close on prospects. Day one featured a ton of high level competition and a range of impressive performances, highlighting both emerging under the radar players and well known recruits who reinforced their status. Let's take another look at the rest of the standouts from Friday's action in Skillman, NJ.    Over the course of both of Friday's games, [player_tooltip player_id='2344534' first='James' last='Roberts'] showcased a diverse scoring package— mid range shot making off the dribble, catch and shoot three point shooting, attacking the basket on dribble drives off ball reversals and in PnR situations finishing strong at the basket and even his ability to bully smaller defenders in the low post.     With a quick and high release, Matt Kennedy's perimeter shot making ability was on full display Friday afternoon. Kennedy excelled at hunting his shot out on the three point line and shot it with a boat load of confidence. Kennedy also used his strong frame to get in the paint off closeouts and finish in traffic around the basket. Kennedy played with a tremendous motor and competed at a high level on the defensive end of the floor.     A confident and smooth shot maker from three point territory, with deep range too, [player_tooltip player_id='2201953' first='Jayden' last='Johnson'] shot the three ball an at extremely high clip both off the catch and off the dribble Friday afternoon. Johnson showed he's capable of thriving at either guard spot— also displaying his ability to handle the basketball and be a floor general for Elizabeth's offense throughout both games Friday afternoon.     Another big time perimeter shot maker for Elizabeth's backcourt, [player_tooltip player_id='1595676' first='Jalen' last='Maldonado'] displayed his ability to be a lethal threat from three point range. Maldonado also displayed his ability to create offense off the bounce and score it at different levels, breaking his defender down and getting to the rim. Maldonado showed he's capable of effecting the game on the offensive end of the floor with and without the ball.     An exceptional floor spacing threat, [player_tooltip player_id='2081040' first='Connor' last='Lee']'s three point shooting ability was on full display in Friday's action. Lee displayed his versatility as a shooter, knocking down shots both off the catch and off the move. Lee also showed he can get to his mid range when defenses ran him off the line.     The engine behind Woodbury's offense, [player_tooltip player_id='2347936' first='Devin' last='Williams'] showcased his ability to be a tough shot maker Friday afternoon. Williams demonstrated his catch and shoot ability in combination with his ability to shoot it on the move from three point range while also showing flashes of his creativity off the dribble.     The primary source of offense for Central Regional Friday afternoon, Derek Roth demonstrated his ability to score it at multiple levels Friday afternoon. Creative and efficient off the bounce, Roth thrived at getting in the paint and finishing with craftiness while also knocking down shots from three point range.     A lethal catch and shoot threat from three point range, CJ Hood demonstrated his ability to knock down outside shots at a very high clip in Friday's action. Hood came away from both games Friday with three plus made threes, particularly off the catch.     Behind a pair of explosive scoring performances Friday afternoon, [player_tooltip player_id='2342691' first='Jaylen' last='Washington'] showcased his dangerous scoring ability off the bounce, breaking his defender down and often times getting to his mid range pull up game. Washington also thrived as a defender on the ball, pressuring opposing ball handlers and often times turning defense into offense.     A poised and often under control ball handler, [player_tooltip player_id='2731718' first='Riley' last='Gorman'] touched the paint very often Friday afternoon. Gorman showcased his ability to be a good distributor of the basketball, finding open guys within the flow of Immaculata's offense. A confident shot maker off the catch, Gorman also demonstrated his ability to be a lethal threat from the perimeter.     Another guard that had a pair of strong scoring performances Friday afternoon, [player_tooltip player_id='2342640' first='Austin' last='Workman'] demonstrated his ability to smoothly and efficiently get to his mid range pull up game off the bounce, showcasing his smooth jumper. Workman was also aggressive in getting downhill, playing off bumps and finishing through contact at the rim. Workman also showcased his ability to be a threat from three point range, knocking down a handful of open shots.
