The leader for the defending sectional champs, Williams is a big reason why Woodbury figures to be a tough out despite entering SJ Group 1 as the seventh seed. He’s taken a slight step back in his raw production with the Thundering Herd sporting a more balanced attack, but has nonetheless shown clear growth in his game from a year ago. Previously more of an off-ball player who was somewhat reliant on others to get him going as a shooting threat, Williams has taken key steps forward as a ballhandler to open things up for more potent ability as a rim attacker off the dribble. His growth as a dribble-drive threat and playmaker for others should move him onto scholarship radars heading into the grassroots season.

Especially converting on catch and shoot opportunities, Williams provided optimal floor spacing and impressed with some intangibles that make him a dangerous threat far beyond what his shooting numbers are—stepping into shots with fluidity and balanced footwork, shooting the basketball with a quick and high release, and aggressively hunting his shot and finding open windows in the offense off different ball reversals and guards penetrating.

Williams displayed his shot making from three point range off the catch and his mid range shot making off the bounce while also mixing in some strong finishes at the rim both in transition and off half court dribble drives.

An aggressive scoring guard, Devin Williams Devin Williams 6'2" | SG Woodbury | 2028 PA demonstrated his ability to score the basketball in a variety of ways, both in transition opportunities and in half court sets. Williams displayed his three point shooting ability off the catch, mid range shot making ability off the bounce while also mixing in some finishing at the basket. Williams also flashed his ability to be a connective passer and keep the ball moving in Woodbury’s offense.

Devin Williams Devin Williams 6'2" | SG Woodbury | 2028 PA absolutely torched the nets from three point distance Friday evening, erupting for a total nine made threes against State College Area High (PA). A confident shooter that doesn’t need much space to get his shot off, Williams demonstrated his versatility as a perimeter shooter— knocking down open three point shots off the catch, off the move, and coming off different screens. Catching fire early, Williams maintained his rhythm throughout the course of the whole game mixing it up by also getting in the mid range area off the bounce.

Williams demonstrated his catch and shoot ability in combination with his ability to shoot it on the move from three point range while also showing flashes of his creativity off the dribble.

A new addition addition to the NJ Bulldogs program, Devin Williams Devin Williams 6'2" | SG Woodbury | 2028 PA brings lethal perimeter shot making ability to this year’s 16U group. A versatile shooter that is capable of knocking down open shots off the catch while also being able to hit shots from three point range off the dribble, Williams brings a spark of offense, particularly elite three point shooting to this 16U backcourt. Over the next few sessions, look for Williams to be a dangerous threat from three point range and be a guy that defenses are forced to always close out on.

It was a relatively rough outing for the Thundering Herd’s leading scorer on the season, but Williams still showed some of the potent offensive ability that has him well on his way to the 1,000-point plateau. With 85 made 3’s on the year, he failed to knock one down tonight but showed some punch off the bounce on his way to crafty runners and a tough finish through contact. It was good to see him fight through the shooting woes and a really quiet first half to help drag his team back into the game. We’ll be continuing to track Williams into the grassroots season.
