If an educated and informed reader is raising an eyebrow at the title. Let me me explain. The Cadillac Summer Shootout produced a deep and talented field this year… but it also ran right up to the beginning of the more high profile BCAM Reaching Higher Live event.

With my son participating in the JV portion of this year's event in Cadillac. Let's just say my writing composition time was a little condensed. However in cleaning out the June notebook. I realized I watched a lot of good basketball.

So I'm going to subscribe to the mantra thar got me through college— better late than never. To make up for lost time. I'm going to give you not one but TWO all tournament teams. As this was the first year I attended all three days of action.

First Team

PG- [player_tooltip player_id='2846884' first='Rahmaan' last='Kelley'] 6-2 2026 Saginaw Nouvel Explosive combo guard had a strong week. Played well in two man situations and wasn't a careless pump from the point guard spot. Got his team into their sets and ran them efficiently. Played off of two feet in the lane and showed excellent balance. You weren't going to knock him off his spot with a simple hand check. Should be more comfortable in his second with the program, after transferring from defunct Saginaw Arthur Hill. If the outside shot becomes more consistent, could be one of the top players in Division IV next year.

SG- [player_tooltip player_id='2758267' first='Domenic' last='Wing'] 6-6 2028 Cadillac If you look at the height. There is no positional fraud going on here. Wing is a legitimate 6-6 two guard already as a rising sophomore. Was a very busy player on the weekend as the host squad fielded two teams. Is showing much more assertiveness as a ball handler and playmaker. Has the size to easily shoot over nearly all defenders at the high school level. Helps that is left handed as well. With the improved handle is getting to his spots with similar ease. As he seemingly continues to develop physically, might not be able to label him a guard much longer. Accordingly showed increased strength in the post at times.

SF- [player_tooltip player_id='2276657' first='Clayton' last='Heuker'] 6-5 2027 McBain On very talented Breslin Center quality teams for the first portion of his career. Heuker appears ready to carry a heavier load as an upperclassman. Playing with strength and aggression will never be a problem for this prospect. However this year appears to have slimmed down a little and is showing more of a perimeter attack. Is beginning drives further away from the basket. Has array of post/pivot moves to finish at the rim with. Sheds defenders on penetration with a thick upper body and broad shoulders. That being said, appears to have slimmed down slightly and is playing with more vertical explosion.

PF- [player_tooltip player_id='2477378' first='Carter' last='Grubb'] 6-6 2026 Traverse City West I mean this in a complementary way. Grubb is a very simple evaluation. The ability to get off the floor quickly at his size is special. As bouncy of a post prospect as you will find anywhere. Has an improving perimeter skillset that allows him to face players up. That is a testament to his competitiveness and work ethic. If I had the ability to explode and dunk like this, not sure I would work on anything else. Is becoming a solid mid range shooter as well. The hard work is beginning to pay off. Earned an a Divsion II offer from Lake Superior St recently.

C- [player_tooltip player_id='2270808' first='Jacob' last='Plamondon'] 6-6 2026 Glen Lake (pictured) Similar to Grubb as he is a fairly simple evaluation. An old school post with elite strength and athleticism. Showed off the expansion is his game at BCAM a few days later. Didn't need to do it in Cadillac. Just beasts opponents on the block. The lane agility is striking. At one point corralled a loose ball near the sideline under the basket. Picked it up and rose quickly for difficult two handed dunk. Didn't need a power dribble or gather step. Just contorted his body and rose upward. Like Grubb, recently picked up a Division II offer from Michigan Tech.

Second Team

PG- [player_tooltip player_id='2300933' first='Eli' last='Smith'] 6-1 2026 Pine River The hardest cut from the first team. Smith was electric with the ball in his hands all weekend. Has a very lanky and skinny frame. While this dings him a little in the strength department. It also helps him play much taller than his listed height. Additionally he is the furthest thing from “soft”. Per usual summer ball, individual fouls were not recorded. Accordingly took punishment all weekend at the rim. Not only kept coming back for more. Finished often with a creative bag and from unique angles. The ball handling is vastly improved. Excels in two man and pick and roll situations. Good passer especially off the live dribble. Clutch player who might have had one of the plays of the tournament. A falling out of bounds late corner three in a victory against the host squad.

SG- [player_tooltip player_id='2300933' first='Eli' last='Smith'] 6-1 2027 Ithaca No typo here. Two different [player_tooltip player_id='2300933' first='Eli' last='Smith']'s back-to-back. This Eli is an explosive multi sport standout for the Yellowjackets. I didn't catch him as often as the other players on this list. When I did, he excelled at getting to the basket. Explosive athlete who finished well at the rim despite his size. Lefty who should form a strong Division III backcourt with fellow 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2140498' first='Gibson' last='Rondy']

SF- [player_tooltip player_id='2110784' first='Mason' last='Gugle'] 6-4 2026 Pine River As you see from the college offers on the first team. There was an abundance of next level athletes in the field. No one finished above the rim like Gugle. Tips, lobs, and off his own action. Gugle simply lived above the rim. Isn't just a rail thin leaper. Has powerfully built thick frame that absorbs contact on drives. Shot selection might need to improve from the perimeter. However had a smooth and effortless release from beyond the arc.

PF- Luke Bradford 6-5 2026 Onekama A multi sport standout from a very small school. Bradford might be flying a little under the radar in the region. An old school hoss in physical frame. Has some new school tendencies as well. Can stretch the floor at times. However I am more impressed with ability to initiate offense out of the high post. Good passer who sees the court well. Coaches son from a family with a deep basketball pedigree. More importantly, it shows with his all around versatile floor game. With some solid teammates and depth. The Portagers could surprise in Division IV this year.

C- [player_tooltip player_id='2849763' first='Stone' last='Walker'] 6-8 2026 Pine River In case you couldn't connect the dots with three players placed here. I was very impressed with Pine River on the week. Walker was the tallest player in the camp. However, more importantly appeared to be playing like it as well. A bit of late bloomer. Is starting to work out the kinks in his game. Mainly beginning to keep the ball higher in the post. While still slender doesn't appear to mind contact in the paint. Even seeks it out at times. Good athlete who runs the court fluidly for his size. Still has a ways to go. However like the rest of his team, is showing vast improvement as he approaches his senior season.
