Traverse City West battled with Grandville and walked away with an impressive 66-58 victory. Grubb was pretty much unstoppable on the offensive end of the floor. The above the rim finisher ended the game with 29 points. He also put in work on the glass, grabbing 7 boards.

last weekend at the LSSU team camp, but since he impressed the coaching staff and earned an offer, I thought it would be wise to add him to this list. My cohorts on the downstate team (Gilbert, Hankamp, and Sweat) have dropped a lot of praise on this young man, and I’m glad he made it up to the Sault to put it on display. Lake State could use some shoring in the BIGS department, and signing Grubb would be a huge addition.

will be carrying a big load for Coach Baumann’s Titans. He has added some bulk to his 6’6″ frame and he used it to bully his defenders all weekend. Saw some nice things out of him in the transition game as well, a feature often overlooked by those on the sidelines. TC West lost some depth from last year, but Grubb has ben hitting the spring circuit hard and going up against some stiff competition. PrepHoops zen master Scott Hankamp says to keep your eyes on this kid; 10/4 good buddy!

Carter probably should be listed as a power forward as not too many people have been able to guard him down low. He’s a self-proclaimed gym rat, so I decided to hit the archives on this kid. When kids “self-proclaim” I will usually look back six to twelve months and observe some of the small things: confidence around the rim, free throw shooting improvement, improved shooting percentage, etc. Carter checked a lot of these boxes as I observed film on him. He really has improved his game and we can officially stamp his gym rat card. He has stepped into a role at West that should have a lot of next-level coaches taking notice. Another D1 district 1 team that will have to be battle-hardened come district time.

Grubb plays a lot lot in the paint, but his game really looks like it will transfer to the wing at the next level. Tune in to his game this spring and summer and watch and see. Grubb did a nice job playing patient and attacking open space in the win against crosstown rival Traverse City Central. He made a couple huge plays late with a block with 2 minutes left that slowed a TCC run and a righty layup with 1 minute left that put West up 7.

I put 2 TC West prospects on here because I’m excited to see Grubb go to work. Grubb is a rising star that you’re going to hear a lot about, all the way through the summer. He has a next level frame with size, strength and a shot.
