There's no way but up for Fountain Fort-Carson after a horrid 2024-25 season. They did not win much and was even worse in league but what they did happen to find was who their best player was in freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2382300' first='Jordan' last=''] Ulmer. [player_tooltip player_id='2382300' first='Jordan' last=''] led the team in scoring at 10.0 points a game and was tasked with a difficult job of leading the team in his first high school season. In season 2, it will be about that play turning into wins as he is a score-first guard that will have to make others around him better. It should be a younger group with plenty of teammates graduating and that means [player_tooltip player_id='2382300' first='Jordan' last=''] will have to key in on other parts of his game. He finished off the year on a strong note and I expect him to elevate his game as a guard to watch down South.

[player_tooltip player_id='2467733' first='Champ' last='Spears'] is no longer under the radar as he he's firmly in the conversation as one of the top catch-and-shoot threats in the class. All he needs is a sliver of space, and he's letting it fly with confidence. Spears shined on a loaded Chaparral squad, averaging 7.6 points per game while knocking down a scorching 45% from deep. With two of the state's most electric scorers around him, his floor-spacing and shooting gravity are game-changing. As he works on becoming a more consistent scoring option and reliable release valve, he's already looked more polished this grassroots season—and that's a scary sight.

Walkowiak plays with an edge and battles on every single possession and that is a coaches dream for a young player. He is not out there trying to do too much but excels in his role and is an X factor that you put not he floor for a spark. He gets down hill, and finishes, he is physical as a point of attack defender and he turns defense into offense. What stands out about Walkowiak is his feel for the game. He's a high IQ defender that covers multiple positions, he gets downhill and goes at defenders with either a finish or forces a foul and is a workhorse on both ends of the floor. I like how much he seems to enjoy getting better as he seems to add to his game each time out.

[player_tooltip player_id='2104675' first='Christian' last='Powell'] is one of the shiftiest and most dynamic guards in his class, with speed to burn and a handle that keeps defenders guessing. A true pass-first point guard, Powell has elite court vision, high IQ, and a natural feel for the game. While he averaged 10 points per game for his high school team, it's on the grassroots circuit where his playmaking and creativity really shine. He thrives in pick-and-roll situations, controls tempo, and consistently puts teammates in scoring position. Also a standout football player and 1st Team All-Conference selection as o freshman who started in every game this season, Powell brings toughness, leadership, and a winning mentality that translates. He's a must-see guard if you enjoy the beautiful game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2530560' first='Malachi' last='Egbuji'] is a 6'7 force in the making that is still growing and is starting to put it all together. From the start of the season to now on the grassroots circuit, his growth has been impressive. He towers over defenders, protects the paint with deflections and blocks, and is now running the floor and filling lanes like a seasoned big. Egbuji brings a raw, aggressive energy to the court, finishing through contact, battling for boards, and embracing physicality on both ends. His back-to-the-basket game is developing, and he's learning how to impose his will. What I like about him is he WANTS to score it each time down. The sky is truly the limit for him as he continues to get better and better on each watch.
