We updated our 2028 rankings today, adding in 26 new names from schools across Maryland and Washington DC for a total of 100 prospects in the sophomore class. We used feedback from conversations with HS and AAU coaches, from film, and from our scouts after being in the gym all season. That full list can be found here. To start things off, we'll break down our top 10 prospects in the class.

-Our top player in the class remains there after a strong, consistent start to offseason play both in AAU and in various summer leagues/team camps. A strong 2-way guard with an old school scoring game with midrange pull-ups and faders, Skipworth has really improved his touch in the paint and is impacting the game more frequently as a rebounder. His value as a switchable defender that can scale up or down multiple positions makes him an invaluable leader for Bullis for the next three years.

-Avery moved up a spot with stellar play both in EYBL competition with Melo and in summer league hoops. A mobile wing prospect that moves well for his size, can put it on the deck, and can be a one-man fastbreak in transition-- he might possess the most long-term upside in the class. His athletic ability combined with the versatility of his skillset and phenomenal positional size figures to keep him in the conversation for one of the DMV's brightest stars for years to come.

-Bogard moves up two spots to enter T3 on our rankings with 1st Team All-BCL performances during the regular season as a key contributor for a Spalding team that needed his size at both ends of the floor to compete. Bogard has improved his upper body strength and cardiovascular conditioning to be a consistent force in the paint for the Cavaliers. Love that he has made such strides as a finisher around the basket that hits the glass hard and collected several poster dunks throughout his first year on the scene.

-A physical guard/wing tweener that should see an uptick in role and opportunity on Military Rd this season, our scouts still remain high on his upside. Smith-Bey can guard 1-4 at the high school level and as all of the intangibles of an elite defender to go with the size and athleticism needed to shut down marquee scorers in the area. A slasher that is improving his touch as a shooter outside of the paint, with his work ethic and SJC's track record of developing guards-- we expect that he will be a well-rounded and highly-coveted prospect in time.

-Washington continues to climb our rankings as arguably a top-5 defender in the area regardless of class. Putting his speed and quickness aside, Washington has a great feel for when his matchup plans to put the ball on the floor or change directions and is a hellacious POA defender that opposing coaches must keep in mind when scheming gameplans. His quickness allows him to come off ball screens with pace and he is rapidly improving the way that he sees the floor once he gets the help defender to commit in his downhill drives to the rim.

-Love Muhammad's utility as a point guard prospect that can comfortably play both on or off the ball within his team's schemes. Muahammad has great feel and understands pace at a young age, especially when weaving through traffic in transition or attacking on side ball screens. His ability to serve as a connector or shooter from the wings only adds value to his long-term projection as a prospect. It shouldn't be easy to step onto a prep school floor in a league as physical as the EPL as a freshman and look as comfortable at both ends of the floor-- but Muhammad made it look pretty effortless.

-If there's one thing you're gonna get out of Tarawally-- it's buckets. The rising sophomore breaks into our Top 10 after a stellar spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2078456' first='DC' last='Premier'] as a scoring guard that can really create easy shots for himself off the bounce. Tarawally uses his physicality and tight handle to navigate tight spaces in the paint. But he also can hit shots in a variety of ways from the high post, from face-up positions on the wing or elbow, or on an island as a scoring guard. Very interested in seeing if he stays to play for a new coach with Gwynn Park, as he could really push the needle for a contending team this fall.

-"Big Dave" is one of the more consistent young players in the area as a sturdy scoring and rebounding machine from the low block. He continues to add scoring moves to his bag and is always improving his finishing ability with either hand on either side of the rim. People often sleep on the big fella's footwork both as a scorer and as a defender as he fights to stay in front of wings on the perimeter. If he can continue to grow and add in more play-making from the wing or low block-- he will be even more difficult to guard.

-Clark impressed our scouts throughout this high school season as an explosive W/F tweener that did a lot for KIPP this season. He moves pretty well for a player his size, can really get off the ground, and plays with a motor at both ends of the floor that really accentuates his skillset. Love his activity on the glass and finishing ability in traffic as he is a young hooper that knows how to use his size to do his work early carving out space for rebounds in the paint. Want to see what he can do on the perimeter as a shooter and pass, also want to see if the handle can hold up while navigating space against guards because he already has success against wings.

-Brooks really impressed as an impact starter that took advantage of playing time in the backcourt that emerged when injuries happened early in the season. But the '28 guard proved his value as an elite shooter that is also capable of running point and creating for others in the halfcourt. Love his readiness for the moment whether his team needs a bucket late or needs to handle ball pressure down the stretch of a close game. He's played well in a key role as a starter so far this spring and early summer for a Durant group that needs his shot-making and ball-handling to balance the roster.
