Today we updated our 2027 prospect rankings that can be found here. Over the next few days we will share some of the biggest stockrisers, new additions, and some sleepers that our scouts like in the class. Earlier today we broke down our top 10 in the junior class (link provided here). Now we will break down a few of the names that rose the most in this update to our rankings. Let's dig in!

-Scott breaks into our top 20 with really stellar play in summer league and on the AAU circuit with TTO. Scott plays with great pace whether or not he has a ball screen and is able to fluidly get to his spots in the halfcourt. The handle has improved to allow him to weave through tighter spaces in the defense, specifically in breaking fullcourt presses and splitting double screens on ball screens to get downhill. He's taking and making more 3s, getting to the FT line with regularity, and mixing in well-timed passes to teammates. He's displaying all the markers of a HM basketball player, believe he has earned his spot in the upper echelon of DMV talent.

-Malonga was more prospect than player before this cycle but has turned in more consistent performances with a bigger role and more playing time with Mt. Zion. With his size, athleticism, and growing skillset-- Malonga is turning heads as a 2-way wing with some nice long-term upside. The Cameroon native has only been playing basketball for 6 years now and continues to make strides as a wing that is beginning to hit C+S perimeter looks and understand defensive rotations. Definitely has t-5 upside as a player in this class.

-Felt appropriate to reward the hustle, unselfish play, and development that the JR wing has made over the past few months with a healthy bump up the rankings into our Top 40. Mahan plays a brand of winning basketball and has really upped his stock in a productive summer with the Washington Warriors 16u group on the 3SSB circuit. His ability to hit shots, wreak chaos both on and off the ball defensively, finish above the rim, and play within himself makes him a valuable piece for every team that he's a part of. The motor and year to year development are good indicators that his stock will only continue to rise as he heads into what should be a breakout junior year in the DCIAA.

-Brooks has made probably the biggest jump in the rankings that I've seen during my time with Prep Hoops. The skilled W/F prospect popped onto our radar midway through last year and probably should've been slotted higher, but his development even from the end of the season has been very encouraging. Brooks has great size and uses a powerful frame to bully his way to spots in the halfcourt. Despite the size, he's a really skilled passer and shooter that is able to rumble his way through much tighter spaces than you would expect on his way to the rim due to a nimble set of feet and skilled hands. Like the strides that he has made with his feel, choosing to not drive through crowded areas and use his slashing gravity to create for others from a standstill or off the bounce. Improvements to his conditioning as improved his back foot burst on drives as well as his ability so slide with his matchup better on the defensive end of the floor. Should have a big time year playing for his father in PG County.

-Another skilled W/F tweener that has impressed our scouts over the past few months with pretty consistent near double-double performances with Avalon. Ayana has a polished midrange jumper off of face-ups and scores it well around the basket with either hand and a nice bag of finesse moves. Want to see his burst off the bounce improve as well as adding in some upper body strength to allow him to finish over bigger, stronger opponents as Avalon will likely play some tougher non-conference opponents this season. Love his upside as a skilled wing with a ton of scoring potential.

-Shifty point guard that can score in bunches with a really quick first step and a developed midrange jumper. Ashe excels in transition and is improving his decision-making off the bounce to vacillate well between scoring and facilitating to open teammates. If he can add more weight onto his frame and use that scoring gravity to find open shooting opportunities for teammates, I would expect him to be one of the key names to know in PG County for a Largo team that reloaded well this offseason.
