The senior-to-be guard was excellent on Friday morning in the Warriors' narrow loss to ADM, scoring 27 points and doing so in a variety of ways. He beat the opposition down the floor in transition, he got to the rim off the dribble in the halfcourt. He scored against weaker defenders on the block, and knocked down shots from both the mid-range and 3-point line off both the dribble and the catch. He does a great job playing with pace, changing speeds and keeping defenders off balance. Also a scrappy defender with quick hands, he moves his feet well and can impact the game on that end of the floor.

Lorensen did what Lorensen has become known for against Waukee - score, and score in bunches at a highly efficient clip. The 6-1 lefty is one of the purest scorers in the state, and he was up to his usual tricks against the Warriors, dropping an easy 29 points in the win. He's never sped up, able to get to wherever he wants to get on the floor off both the dribble and great off-ball movement. His ability to score draws so much defensive attention that it opens things up for the rest of the team, a dangerous thought given the other potent offensive talent the Tigers possess.

The lead guard was really good on Friday morning, using his great size in the backcourt at 6-5 to shoot over defenders. He looked really confident in his shot throughout the game against Waukee, subtly creating additional space with his footwork or a slight leanback to get his shot off. His length also allows him to make a major impact on the defensive end, especially when the Tigers send doubles at the post. His length can fluster inexperienced passers and create turnovers in a hurry. He had 16 points in the Tigers win and was really strong on both ends of the floor.

Miller played really well in the Bombers' blowout win over Knoxville, scoring 17 points and doing so efficiently. A lanky, athletic 6-4/6-5 combo forward who runs the floor well, rotates defensively and blocks shots, and controls the glass, he has also shown improvement as a 3-point shooter, knocking down a pair of catch-and-shoot 3s on Friday morning. If his improved jumper is for real, that would be a huge boost for the Bombers.

The Ankeny Centennial transfer is one of the top players in the state's 2027 class, and his addition is obviously a huge one for a Ballard team that figures to be among the best in 3A this season. A 6-2/6-3 wing who can score from anywhere on the floor, he plays under control and is equally effective playing with or without the ball in his hands. He shoots it at a high clip off the dribble and the catch, has a willingness to post up smaller defenders and bully them on the block, and he's really good at getting to the bucket off the dribble against bigger, slower-footed defenders. He had 21 points in their win over Knoxville and was also excellent on the glass.

Clair has continued to improve in every facet of his game. The 6-5 big man has nimble feet and is decisive on his post touches, knowing what he wants to do before he even gets the ball. He showed good vision and passing instincts when operating in the high post, finding cutting teammates or open wing shooters, and his size, length, and athleticism allow him to control the glass on both ends of the floor. He even put the ball on the floor a few times and attacked a bigger defender, getting to the rim for finishes or getting to the free-throw line. He has soft touch around the rim with either hand, and showed the ability to step out and help space the floor even more for a Knights team that is absolutely loaded with shooting. He had 21 points in their win over Ames.

2026 C [player_tooltip player_id='1765516' first='Marach' last='Dau'] (Ames)

Dau had a 2-3 inch edge, and a massive length advantage, against Kuemper Catholic and took full advantage of it throughout the Little Cyclones' loss to the Knights. A mobile, active 6-8/6-9 big man with a wingspan that has to be approaching 7-feet, he showed improved footwork and confidence with the ball in his hands on the block, making quick decisions and looking to dunk everything around the rim. When he wasn't able to dunk it, he showed touch, and a great second and third jump that he uses to control the offensive glass, cleaning up his own misses. His greatest strength is still on the defensive end, where he's a fantastic shot blocker with great timing and instincts, but the improvement and increased confidence on the offensive end could be a real game-changer in his long-term outlook. He had 29 points against Kuemper.
