AAU May 17U Guards to Know

These guards have been having strong springs and are four names to keep an eye on next winter who will have the opportunity to step into bigger roles. They each bring a competitiveness and desire to affect the game on both ends while exhibiting some real toughness on the court.    He's just a tough, solid guard who can make plays when he needs to and has the ability to be a key floor stretcher. Handles the ball well, has experience running the one but can also be a nice complimentary ballhandler. Has been a consistent threat from deep, shooting 38% on 101 attempts his sophomore year, and 39% on 87 attempts his junior year. He's a tough guard too who will defend, hustle for loose balls, and work hard on both ends.     Nagle is another tough guard who will make a bunch of little plays that add up over the course of a game and can adequately deal with pressure as the primary ballhandler. Sneaky shifty and can create space to attack downhill, and does a good job working quickly off the catch to get the angle on defenders. He's a big-time hustler who will crash in on the offensive end to lend some help on the glass.     Carney is a steady two-way guard who plays with a good head and a will to compete on both ends. Can hit the three at a decent clip and has shown he can finish through contact inside, using his body to keep some separation against shot blockers. Very active mind on the defensive end, stays ready, hits his rotations, and has his hands ready and up to get deflections and steals.     He's a dynamic defensive threat who plays tough D on and off the ball. Has great reactions that help him make plays all over the court and really reads the game at a high level off the ball. He averaged 5.8 points and 4.0 assists for [program_tooltip program_id='2076260' first='FOH' last=''] at the first EYCL session and can really set things up with his shiftiness getting into gaps and aggressiveness attacking the interior.
