We recently updated our class of 2027 rankings, with a lot of new players as we learn more about the class as they grow and develop. Things have shaken up quite a bit, with over 25 new names being added to the rankings.

Here's a look at part one of the top shooting guards and small forwards in the sophomore class rankings.

25) [player_tooltip player_id='2760984' first='Timothy' last='Allen Crank'] | 6'2” SG | John Paul the Great (#66 Overall)

Allen Crank had a breakout season for JPG, emerging as their top player moving forward in the next few years and putting up consistent numbers throughout the year. He's one of those guys that plays the game the right way with great fundamentals and a high IQ, he creates and takes good shots, he can score it from all three levels and he does all the little things to help his team win.

24) [player_tooltip player_id='2353645' first='Tyler' last='Kim'] | 6'3” SG | Langley (#62 Overall)

Kim followed up a great freshman season with an even better sophomore campaign, showing improvement in the areas he needed to and becoming a more focal point on the offensive end. The 6'3” off guard plays the game the right way with his ability to stretch the floor and cut off the ball for easy buckets, he's a good secondary ball handler who can create for himself and others and he plays with a great motor on both ends of the floor.

23) [player_tooltip player_id='2815333' first='Baur' last='Lloyd'] | 6'2” SG | Blue Ridge (#58 Overall)

Lloyd transferred in from Texas to Blue Ridge and he carved out a nice role for them throughout the season, coming off the bench with energy on both ends and the ability to make shots as well. He can knock it down from deep consistently, he moves well off the ball to get open, he moves his feet well and has good anticipation defensively and he makes good decisions with the ball.

22) [player_tooltip player_id='2815299' first='Ashton' last='Cornett'] | 6'4” SG | Cave Spring (#56 Overall)

Conrett emerged as an intriguing prospect in the Roanoke area, as he has great positional size for his age as well as a blend of athleticism and skill that is only going to get better as he gets older. The 6'4” off guard can drill it from deep on kick-outs and coming off of screens, he's great in transition with his his athleticism and touch as a finisher and he has huge upside on the defensive end too.

21) [player_tooltip player_id='2353664' first='Namarqus' last='Byrd'] | 6'4” SF | Princess Anne (#54 Overall)

Byrd is one of the better young prospects in the Virginia Beach area, and could see himself move up this list if he continues to develop and play well over the summer. The 6'4” wing is long and athletic and is already playing above the rim in transition, he can guard multiple positions and with his ability to shoot it from deep he's trending toward the “3 and d” archetype coaches love to recruit.

20) [player_tooltip player_id='2353649' first='Ethan' last='Evans'] | 6'2" SG | Evergreen Christian (#50 Overall)

While Evans had to take a backseat at times for an Evergreen team that was loaded with upperclassmen in the backcourt and on the wing, he still carved out a nice role for them as one of their top players off the bench. While he isn't the biggest guy he's likely still growing and plays much bigger than he is with his length and toughness, he shoots it well from deep, finishes well in traffic and brings great energy on the defensive end to help his team in a number of ways.

19) [player_tooltip player_id='2353646' first='Simas' last='Kacerauskas'] | 6'4” SF | Episcopal (#49 Overall)

Kacerauskas transferred to a young but talented Episcopal team this past season, and while he had some growing pains it's still very easy to see his big time potential moving forward. At 6'4” with a frame that should fill out nicely he already looks the part, he can work off the ball to get open to make shots on the perimeter or get layups off cuts, he can get to spots off the bounce and he has a great feel for the game too.

18) Aidan O'Conner | 6'2” SG | Loudoun Valley (#45 Overall)

O'Conner was one of the breakout players in Loudoun County this season, earning First Team All Region honors as a sophomore and was one of the top sophomore scorers in all of NOVA. The 6'2” guard can really light it up from deep with a quick release and effortless range, he can move on the ball where he can get downhill and make plays for himself and others, he's a willing and good passer who reads help well and he's looking like the next big time wing out of a storied program who's produced plenty in the past.

17) [player_tooltip player_id='2470582' first='Will' last='Mancine'] | 6'4” SG | Hargrave (#44 Overall)

Mancine was one of the rare freshman at Hargrave who started and he returned this year as one of their go-to guys and helped lead them a Final Four appearance in the VISAA D-II classification. The 6'4” wing out of Chicago is a very intriguing prospect with good size and athleticism for his age, he can put it on the deck and get to spots in the midrange or get downhill at the rim, he can knock down shots at a good clip from deep and he is a good rebounder for his position too.

16) [player_tooltip player_id='2085877' first='Demarcus' last='Brown'] | 6'2” SG | Roanoke Catholic (#41 Overall)

Brown had a big sophomore campaign, helping lead Roanoke Catholic to the VISAA D-III Final Four, and the two sport star who also shines on the football field is one of the best athletes in the Roanoke area. The 6'2” off guard is a menace in transition with his speed and ability to get on the rim, he is quick off the bounce with a great first step and the ability to stop on a dime, he can make open shots and he's a very good on ball defender too.
