The opening stop of the Midwest Circuit took place outside of Indianapolis this past weekend. Following are the first and second all tournament teams from the talented and deep field.

[player_tooltip player_id='2751440' first='Xavier' last='Jones'] 6-3 Westerville South (OH) The explosive and bouncing wing led Nova Village to 4-0 record. Was big in two contests that his squad was pushed in. Posting outstanding all around efforts in victories over [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] and Kentucky Future Elite. Scoring 16 and 24 points respectively in those affairs. Has the type of game to accrue some national attention starting next weekend on the Under Armour Circuit in Kansas City.

[player_tooltip player_id='2538870' first='Don' last='Bowling III'] 6-4 Anderson (IN) Long and lanky wing who passes the eye test in a major way. Long strider as well. Covers a lot of ground on both ends of the court. Very slender, but plays with toughness and a surprising wiry strength. Easily plays above the rim and is a strong finisher. Put up 17 points in close loss to a very good Nova Village squad on Friday. Kept up his strong play throughout the weekend. Finishing off the tournament with a clutch 15 point outing against Kentucky Future Elite

Josh Stephens 6-2 Chelsea (MI) I'm normally not a fan of familial comparisons. However it's hard to overlook it in this case. The younger brother of Jake Stephens (North Georgia) the similarities down to even the number are striking. Just does so many things well and plays beyond his years. More of a post right now in his development. Can initiate offense out of the high post and did it often for an Academy squad that went 4-0 on the weekend. Uses his body craftily to score on the block against bigger defenders. Also is an advanced and willing passer. With this passing proclivity, it's surprising that he still led his team in scoring much of the weekend.

Duncan Peters 6-5 Grandview Heights (OH) The MWBC Pumas club might have been one of more the dominant teams on the weekend. Anchoring this attack down low was this stocky post. Like Stephens (see above) operated well out of the high post. Used his frame to create space around on the block. Also showed a soft touch around the basket. Averaged an eye opening 25 points per game on the weekend.

Brandon Otten 6-3 Benet (IL) While his team didn't have the best weekend in term of wins and losses. The smooth Chicago area wing played well through the entire event. Got to his spots easily and rose over defenders in the mid range. Still developing physically but showed the strength to finish through contact at times. Also had a nice handle with little wasted movement.

Second Team

Ashton Callan 6-0 Jackson Lumen Christi (MI) While Stephens was doing work down low. Callan was The Academy's backcourt standout. A patient and efficient scorer who got his buckets within the flow of the offense. Also made things easy by getting to the line often. Seven of his 16 points came from the charity strip in the closing victory of the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2830423' first='Luca' last='Filia'] 6-1 Olentangy Berlin (OH) Was really impressed with this player in the opener on Friday evening. He didn't let up all weekend. Has good size and length for a point guard. Is also a good shooter who got out into transition easily.

[player_tooltip player_id='2829585' first='Tree' last='Johnson'] 6-3 South Bend Riley (IN) The polar opposite of his [program_tooltip program_id='2076924' first='EG10' last=''] teammate Bowling. Where Bowling in lean and long. Johnson is stocky and strong. Showed toughness by playing through an injury in a clutch closing victory. Scored 24 points against Kentucky Future Elite to wrap up the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2801482' first='Ryan' last='Wade'] 5-11 Riverside (OH) Consummate floor general who led B-Rod Select to a 3-1 weekend. Excellent shooter who organized his feet and squared his shoulders quickly. Found open teammates on drive and kick opportunities often.

[player_tooltip player_id='2538909' first='Tracen' last='Roush'] 6-1 Austin (IN) Era Elite put up a dominant 4-0 weekend. They were a balanced and rare (for AAU) 12 man team. Roush was a steady hand all weekend. Finished off the weekend with 15 point outing against a team from Chicago.
