Now that we have all had time to take a breath after a long and exciting High School Basketball Season, it's time to take a look at some notable prospects before our focus fully shifts to the Grassroots Season. Next, let's take a look at some of the Breakout Sophomores from the 2024-25 Season:

[player_tooltip player_id='2450993' first='Aaden' last='Bruton-Smith'] (Dorman) - Leading off my list of this season's Breakout Sophomores is Dorman's [player_tooltip player_id='2450993' first='Aaden' last='Bruton-Smith']. Aaden made a big jump in the most recent Class of 2027 Rankings and is an intriguing prospect listed at 6'4" with a plus wingspan. He was one of several new faces to the Cavaliers this season and averaged 10.2 Points Per Game on 42% three-point shooting with over 75 makes, including two games with eight. His length allows him to shoot over contests, but he is also a determined rebounder.

[player_tooltip player_id='2467362' first='Jackson' last='Terrell'] (West Ashley) - Terrell is a low-county big who showed improvement stepping into a large role at West Ashley High School this year. He averaged 8.4 Points Per Game and 5.3 Rebounds Per Game while shooting 55% from the field. Jackson is active around the basket at both ends of the floor, blocking shots, finishing lobs, and earning second-chance buckets. Terrell is also strong through contact, runs the floor well, and is comfortable spacing out to the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2467363' first='Jayden' last='Heggins'] (Westside) - Next up on this is Heggins, who had a strong season for the Rams after transferring from cross-town rivals TL Hanna. Jayden likes to operate around the dunker spot and on the blocks, where he can use his size and touch to finish from close range. His athleticism is a factor on the offensive end, but it also helps him protect his own rim. Heggins will draw a charge and knock down a perimeter shot if left alone. He averaged 7.0 Points Per Game, 5.3 Rebounds Per Game, and 1.1 Blocks Per Game in his Sophomore Season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2687375' first='Fabian' last='McClintock'] (Byrnes) - Fabian was a big plus for the Runnin' Rebels, stepping into a big role for a team that started the season on an impressive 23-game winning streak before losing four of their last five games. He led the team in rebounding at 6.2 Rebounds Per Game and was fourth in scoring at 11.5 Points Per Game. McClintock displayed a nice combination of strength and mobility this year. He excelled at his team's high pace because of his interior positioning, activity in transition, and relentlessness on the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id='2683034' first='Hudson' last='Hatch'] (Philip Simmons) - Rounding out my list of Breakout Sophomores from the 2024-25 Season is [player_tooltip player_id='2683034' first='Hudson' last='Hatch'] of Philip Simmons. He had a fantastic year in his first season playing Varsity Basketball, averaging 10.8 Points Per Game and 6.6 Rebounds Per Game while leading the Iron Horses to a 10-0 Region Championship and winning 2A Region 6 Player of the Year. Hatch's calling card is his ability to shoot the ball and was a 37% perimeter shooter, but he can also use his size to protect the rim and clean the glass.
