Underclassmen Forwards to Know

Here's a group of underclassmen making an impact in the frontcourt. Some of these guys have been key names for their squads for a couple of years now while continuing to increase their roles. We also have some younger guys showing the potential to lead their squads in the coming years.    Very strong kid who makes heady plays on both ends. A bit undersized height-wise sometimes in the post but takes his time to find openings and outsmarts taller posts. Very technically sound with his feet and possesses pretty good touch around the paint to finish in different ways. In top ten in both scoring and rebounding in MCC with 12.1 ppg and 6.0 rpg.     Can't teach size and Thompson has it at 6-foot-10. He's continued to show improvement in his post game. He has the basis of some good moves down low and has shown he can finish with either hand. Next step for him is feeling out defenders and getting to better angles to finish down low. Already has been more aggressive this year while showing better patience to read the help defenders. He also made some nice blocks in their game Wednesday night against Monroe while matching up against 6-foot-7 [player_tooltip player_id='2380117' first='Chayce' last='Waite-Kellar'].     He's a big, strong kid who has shown great growth in his post game and came up with a big performance in a big game, against one of his biggest opponents he's face this year. He matched up with 6-foot-10 [player_tooltip player_id='2140818' first='Jack' last='Thompson'] for much of the first half and was able to win down low with patience and some quick moves in the post. He's a pretty athletic kid who was elite rebounding the ball and ended with a 14-point 15-rebound performance to help lift Monroe to the state tourney.     He's a long forward who does most of his work from the blocks. Understands how to use his length with long drop-steps and scooping shots around defenders but can also take some contact and finish or work to the line. Has some ability to hit straight-line drives from high post and is a key rebounder for the 20-6 Vikings.     He's a strong forward who plays really solid up front for the Lyncs. Has the shot to stretch the floor but his biggest contributions for this team come on the glass on both ends, getting them extra possessions, closing out good defensive efforts, and making sure he's there in transition on both ends. He'll have a bigger role scoring next season and is definitely a kid you don't want to leave alone for open shots.
