[player_tooltip player_id='1407053' first='Shawn' last='Michael Matthews'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1407054' first='Hugh' last='Humphries'] both finished with 14 points apiece in a win over John Paul II here today 52-38 at Wilson Hall. The senior duo both currently have over 1,000 career points. Michael Matthews a physical guard-forward was able to penetrate-kick at times here today. Shawn does a nice job of absorbing contact along the way to the basket. He surely isn't afraid to jump on the deck for a loose ball. Shawn really brings competitive edge and blue-collar mindset to the hardwood for the Barons. Shawn currently stands at 1,047 career points.

Humphries a slender-sleek forward currently has 1,070 career points for the Barons. Hugh prefers to play his game out on the wing and doesn't mind handling the ball in the process. Here today was playing a bit more on the ball than in the past and looking to drive to the bucket. The left-handed Humphries can shoot the ball from the perimeter when called upon. Hugh likes the ball in his hands. He will look to challenge and alter shots on the defensive end.

This Barons duo is looking to go out strong in the next few weeks and keep continuing their high school careers a bit longer under Head Coach Rip Ripley. The Barons move to (16-8) on the season.

Harpring Has Strong Game:

[player_tooltip player_id='1501794' first='Ty' last='Harpring'] did a lot of damage for the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins just in one half on Saturday in Moncks Corner. Harpring a physical looking guard scorched the Cavaliers for 32 points at the halftime break and took the rest of the night off. Harpring came into the Palmetto State last fall from the State of Georgia and enrolled at Hilton Head Prep. Prep Hoops has seen him on a few different occasions this past month with his play. Ty will certainly be a Stock-Riser in the final set of 2025 Palmetto State Rankings coming out really soon.

Ty has a great frame and mechanics on his shot. He does a nice job of elevating up on his jumper. Ty shows good body control to the bucket along with a knack constantly moving to get the ball. He really understands the game and knows where to be at all times on the floor. Harpring entered the day averaging 22.6 ppg and 5.5 rebounds for the Dolphins (18-4).

Billy Barron is a new name for the database. The senior shooting guard is a key piece to this Dolphins roster. Barron was able to connect on some outside jumpers while showing good mechanics on his shot. Can the Dolphins prevail again this season in SCISA Class 3A?

Golden Warriors Have Talent:

The John Paul II Golden Warriors just came out flat here today vs Wilson Hall. The Golden Warriors certainly have some pieces on this roster to make some noise in the SCISA Class 4A State Tourney which starts on Saturday February 15, 2025.

[player_tooltip player_id='2634985' first='Nicholai' last='Atkinson'] a senior forward has good length and was able to finish some short 4–6-foot jumpers here today. Atkinson moves well around the floor while staying active inside the paint area finishing some putbacks at times today for the Golden Warriors.

[player_tooltip player_id='2352791' first='Daniel' last='Godsun'] a sophomore point guard finished some floaters here in the lane today. Daniel can change speeds and directions with the ball in his hands out top. He seems to be at his best at times when on attack to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2480071' first='Sean' last='Phalen'] never got in the groove here today for the Golden Warriors. The physical forward is a piece of the puzzle moving forward for this John Paul II program.
