Biggest Standouts:

[player_tooltip player_id='2630142' first='Smith' last='Crick'] (St. Joseph's) - [player_tooltip player_id='2630142' first='Smith' last='Crick'] leads off my standouts from St. Joseph's vs Chapman in Round Two of the Class AAA State Playoffs. Crick got going late in the first quarter with a corner three followed by a deeper three at the buzzer. Crick made four of his first five attempts from behind the arc and even though he is a knockdown perimeter shooter, the playmaking was just as key to his team's win. Smith is a dependable ball handler and decision maker and he almost always made the right play against Chapman's 2-3 zone and late game-pressure. Smith tallied 12 points and 5 assists in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2408294' first='Diondre' last='Jamerson'] (St. Joseph's) - Diondre transferred to the Knights from Carolina Academy this summer and has been a crucial piece to the team this season. He had team highs in points (15) and rebounds (8) on Thursday, but he also hauled in two offensive rebounds on free throws in the final minute that proved to be game-winning. Jamerson also hit a spot-up three at the halftime buzzer which answered a Chapman run and gave his team some energy going into the locker room. It's easy to say that St. Joseph's wouldn't be in an Upper State Semifinal without Diondre, but based purely on last night there is no truer statement.

[player_tooltip player_id='2810140' first='Grayden' last='Humphries'] (Chapman) - Humphries had an extremely impressive performance despite the season-ending loss for Chapman. He had 14 points midway through the second quarter including a stepback three that made you think, "He is just in that zone right now." During that first half, Grayden showcased a tight handle, deep range, and toughness through contact on drives. However, in the second half, St. Joe's came out with adjusted defense and much tighter pressure on Humphries. Grayden struggled with it slightly in the third quarter, but he stayed active off the ball and still made the right play when he did get the rock. His shots started to fall again late in the game, but his supporting cast couldn't add enough to his heroic 24 points to pull out the win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1679972' first='J'sean' last='Sanders'] (High Point) - Switching over to the High Point Academy-Clinton game, [player_tooltip player_id='1679972' first='J'sean' last='Sanders'] is the first of two standouts in Spartanburg. Sanders was a key factor on the defensive end of the floor, moving his feet well around the perimeter, jumping passing lanes, and protecting the rim. J'sean has a very high point of contest due to his length and athleticism, but he is also a major lob threat for those same reasons. He was much more aggressive in the second half seeking his own shots in the paint and earning trips to the free-throw line. Sanders finished with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks to help advance his team to the 2A Upper State Semifinals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2537678' first='Tushawan' last='Richardson'] (Clinton) - After being named to the 2A All-State team on Thursday, Richardson lived up to the hype with a good showing on Friday. He is a standout guard who is scoring-minded by trade but can also make plays for his teammates and works hard defensively. Tushawan has a good hesitation move as well as a soft touch on runners and floaters. He was at his best in transition or beating his defender off the dribble where he could pick apart the defense for scores or passes. Richardson racked up 16 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks in the loss.
