Prep Hoops/Zaleski Sports Teams of the Week (Feb. 17-22)

In this article:
Each week during the high school season, Prep Hoops Wisconsin and Zaleski Sports will select boys' basketball teams of the week across the WIAA's five divisions. Here are this weeks honored squads:
DIVISION 1 … KAUKAUNA
Extending its current winning streak to 13 games last week with wins over Appleton North and Kimberly, Kaukauna has clinched at least a share of the Fox Valley Association championship and takes a 20-3 record into its regular-season finale Thursday against Fond du Lac. If the Ghosts beat second-place Fond du Lac, they will win the FVA title all by themselves. Coach Mike Schalow's squad got a school-record setting performance from Green Bay recruit

DIVISION 2 ... WAUWATOSA WEST
The Trojans dug themselves a bit of a hole in the Greater Metro Conference standings with losses to Germantown (twice), Brookfield Central and Brookfield East before the end of January. But coach Christopher Newbauer's squad had rallied big time in February. With seven straight wins, including crucial victories over Marquette and Brookfield Central last week, Wauwatosa West has zoomed into a first-place tie in the league standings with both Brookfield schools. All three teams sit at 11-4 in league play with one contest left. Wauwatosa West, which hosts Sussex Hamilton on Thursday, helped to create that deadlock at the top with a 65-56 road win over Brookfield Central last Friday. Sophomore wing

DIVISION 3 ... GALE-ETTRICK-TREMPEALEAU
The Red Hawks snapped West Salem's Coulee Conference winning streak at 47 games last Friday with a resounding 72-66 victory over the visiting Panthers. That impressive win came on the heels of handing Cochrane-Fountain City just its second loss of the season earlier in the week. Cochrane-Fountain City has clinced the title in the Dairyland Small Conference while West Salem is in the driver's seat to win the Coulee. The wins over two highly regarded opponents last week lifted G-E-T's record to 14-8 under coach Ian Anderson. In the win over West Salem, junior guard

DIVISION 4 ... CLEAR LAKE
The Warriors secured the championship in the Western Division of the Lakeland Conference last week with wins over Frederic and Unity. After finishing in a tie for sixth place in the leagues standings a year ago and being projected to finish fourth this season, the title is a bit unexpected for coach Jason Sargent's crew, which takes a 20-2 overall record and the No. 1 seeding in Sectional 4 into games this week with New Auburn and Bruce. Saint Thomas Aquinas, located in Marinette, defeated Marinette & Oconto Conference foes Oneida Nation and Suring last week to improve its season record to 15-6 in all games and 10-5 in league play. It's the first winning record for the school since going 19-6 in 2013-14. Coach Jack Farley, a former standout player for the school, got two huge performances last week from his younger brother, Jake, a 5-foot-9 sophomore guard.
