Gideon's play on both ends of the floor was key for Hope Academy, as they beat Hiawatha Collegiate 63-60 after losing to them 36-75 back in December. He's an explosive and agile wing who had a handful of blocks, tipped a few passes, and was exploding off the floor to high point rebounds. After a quite first half, Gideon started taking over with his ability to get to the rim off the dribble, but when a lane wasn't there he showcased a reliable mid-range jumper. Horne ended up fouling out mid-way through the second half, but his impact during the first 27-28 minutes was key for his team.

Allan was making it look effortless at times, scoring 25 points in a comfortable win over South St. Paul. He's one of those players who doesn't need to dribble much to get his shots off, mixing in shot-fakes and jab steps to get defenders off balance, before attacking the opposite direction. Finished in a variety of ways at the rim, hit a pair of mid-range jumpers, and showcased comfortable range from beyond the arc. I thought he did a great job of throwing the ball ahead in transition as well, leading to a few easy buckets for his team. Allan keeps things simple, and always seems to produce for his St. Paul Central team.

In the first meeting of the year, CDH was able to dominate in the paint. That wasn't the case on Friday night though, as Kyle put up a 22 point and 13 rebound double-double helping lead his team to an upset win. He showed impressive hands to catch everything in traffic, and was powering his way up through crowds to finish at a high percentage in the paint. It didn't matter if he was running the floor in transition, rolling to the hoop, or elevating for an offensive board, if Kyle got his hands on the ball, it was his. Productive showing from the Wyoming football commit.

Sefi has been a big addition to the St. Paul Central team this season, giving them a big boost of scoring with his 15.4 points per game. He was right around that average again on Saturday, with 16 against SSP. Sefi is Central's shooter, and always seems to have his hands and feet ready to catch and get a shot off from beyond the arc. Quick release on his shot allows him to beat the closeout as well. He does a great job of just floating into pockets of space looking for a kickout pass when [player_tooltip player_id='1574222' first='Allan' last='Lankfard'] Jr drives, knowing that the defense is going to collapse in the paint.

James had a big game for East Ridge in the win over #1 ranked CDH. The 2025 guard hit a few clutch threes in the second half which blew the game open, allowing East Ridge to coast the finish over the last few minutes. Leading up to that point, James was using his quickness to get to dangerous spots on the floor, able to score over size with floaters, or deliver accurate and well timed passes to his teammates. At 5'10 he doesn't have a ton of size, but his lateral quickness makes him a pest on the defensive end, where he's able to pressure the ball hard and fight to get over screens. He finished with 22 points and 4 assists in the win.

Mustafa seems to be finding more ways to produce with consistency around the rim. Rather than floating out on the perimeter and taking a lot of outside jumpers as he did earlier in the season, Mustafa is looking to get to the rim and use his long frame to finish over defenders. Against St. Paul Central he had a couple of scrappy put-back buckets, and also showed the poise to get into the lane off the drive, and then play off two feet. That allowed him to go up balanced when smaller defenders were swarming him. Still showed some of that fluid ball handling ability that is rare at his size, while also knocking down a pick & pop three. He ended the game with a team high 15 points.

The freshman guard had some key plays down the stretch for Hope Academy in their win over Hiawatha Collegiate. He's lighting quick on the ball, and on multiple occasions he just blew by his man to get to the rim and finish. He seemed to be at his best creating for his teammates though, as he was throwing the ball ahead in transition, threaded the needle a couple of times to a teammate around the rim, and also found his man in the corner for a last second three that gave his team a 63-60 win. The freshman guard was solid throughout the game, but seemed to play his best basketball over the last five minutes when it was anyone's game to win.
