One of the favorites in the 2A East Farmville Central has been in this position so many years in a row at this point it's comical. With the ability to control their destiny going into the conference tournament and sitting at number 1 in the 2A RPI, it might be mostly at the hands of [player_tooltip player_id='1707110' first='MJ' last='Williams']. Known for his ability to score from all three levels he has done a good job of getting teammates involved and taking the initiative to guard the other team's best guard throughout the season. If Farmville and MJ want a chance to play for their 4th state championship in a row they'll need a big postseason from him.

At this point in his career, everyone in the East knows or has heard of [player_tooltip player_id='1220133' first='Mason' last='Dobie']. Standing around 6'3 with an all around scoring arsenal he has had eleven games with 30+ points scored, including 49 and 45 on two separate occasions in November. He has the necessary talent and motor to push his First Flight Squad to a deep playoff run.

Arguably one of the toughest conferences in the 1A East is home to two of the top scoring guards in NC. BJ Carter does just about everything for his Washington County squad, he scores in bunches from all three levels, rebounds at a nice rate (9.4 rebs), and is close to the top of the conference in steals (3.9 stls), all as the primary lead guard (4.2 asst). If the Panthers plan on making a run to the title game it'll be on the shoulders of this senior guard.

The newly committed football recruit to Winston Salem State University was the other guard I mentioned above. Bertie has had a down year in terms of team success compared to the last couple of years but Dempsey is having one of the best all around seasons in the state. Averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals per contest he is not a player I want to see in the playoffs.

The Camp Lejeune boys basketball team is sitting at the top of the conference for the first time since the 2011-12 basketball season. Their leading scorer 6'4 Devin Charles has one of the purest shooting forms in the 1A East. Known for his ability to get to get his shot off with a quick release and use his solid frame to score around the basket he is one college coaches should be tracking this postseason.

Standing just a tad under six feet tall [player_tooltip player_id='2298572' first='Trey' last='Jones'] is one of the top scoring guards in all of NC. What most would describe as a microwave scorer, with a quick and shifty handle, he does a good job at creating space to get his shot off over most defenders. One of the most consistent scorers out east and hasn't had a season under 16.5 points per game since his sophomore season and now as a senior he is up to 24 points per game.

A double double threat on a nightly basis for Fike HS out of Wilson he has them currently having their best season since he's been in high school. Standing around 6'5 with a nice motor and above the rim finishing ability he makes Fike a tough seed that will for now be on the road come playoff time.

Wilson Prep has been one of the top teams in the 1A East for the past couple of years and this year isn't any different. [player_tooltip player_id='2715560' first='Keontae' last='Barron'] only leads the tigers in one category (3 steals per contest) but he is most likely to have a crazy scoring outburst on any given night. A few games back he had a ridiculous stat line in a conference game that included 40 points 7 steals with 11 made 3 pointers.
