The four players we previewed in our original Central League POY post (Presented in alphabetical order below.) all remain strong candidates to win the award. However, over the last three months a few other prospects have played outstanding basketball and thrust themselves into the Central League POY conversation.

Belcher is a speedy guard with lightning quick change of direction dribble moves. He uses those assets to relentlessly attack the hoop in transition and in the half-court. Once he is among the trees, Belcher can finish through contact. Belcher also owns a smooth shooting stroke with range beyond the 3-points arc. His remarkable dribble skills and accurate jumper combine to create a solid mid-range pull-up game. During his junior campaign Belcher is averaging 15.8 ppg. Two weeks ago, Belcher dropped 23 points (4 threes) against Conestoga. Earlier this season he recorded a near double double of 19 points and 9 rebounds versus Ridley.

Leading the basketball resurgence this year at Springfield is this athletic and crafty guard who is committed to Maryland for lacrosse. As a senior Flaherty is posting 13 points per night and recently scored 19 points (2 threes) in a win over Marple Newtown. Flaherty is a highly accurate three-point shooter with a quick release and deep range. He is comfortable shooting spot up triples as well as threes in transition and coming off screen action. But if a defender closes out too quickly, Flaherty will put the ball on the deck and get to the rack for a lay-in. Defensively, Flaherty is a plus player with a knack for slicing through passing lanes for a steal. Unfortunately, earlier this week Flaherty suffered a lower leg injury, and it looks like he will miss a few games.

This season Kasmer (20 ppg.; Gettysburg commit) has ascended to the No. 1 scoring option at LM and he has filled that role extraordinary well. Last month Kasmer was an explosive scoring presence for the Aces. In January Kasmer poured in 24 points (3 threes) versus Radnor, 21 points against (3 triples) against Harriton, 21 points versus Marple and 19 points against Garnet Valley. Kasmer's outstanding stretch of play helped produce a 10-1 record in January for the Aces. Kasmer is a three-level scoring guard with a fantastic 3- point stroke. His handles, high IQ and patience enable Kasmer to also operate as a pass first floor general. Kasmer is sneaky explosive off the dribble and can get into the paint in a flash.

The breakout star of the 2024-24 Central League season has been thiswiry and speedy point guard with the ability to score and distribute. Sizemore (13 ppg.) can produce points at all three levels. His jumper is automatic from the baseline to the mid-range to behind the arc. Sizemore's quick first step and tight handles enable him to score off the bounce too. He frequently converts on his dribble drives via a nifty Euro-step finish. Sizemore's thrives at scoring on the fast break too. As a distributor, Sizemore excels at dropping dimes in pick-n-roll action as well as on drive and kicks. Additionally, his live dribble passing is extremely impressive. Sizemore's ability to find open teammates on the weakside with a well-timed skip pass is unique. The highlights of Sizemore's junior campaign include a 20 point (3 threes) and 5 rebounds effort against Radnor as well as posting 18 points (1 three) versus Marple.
